Survivor IS Journey-like and Chalfont could've pulled it off sounding more Survivesque (Dave) than McCauley.

Hey Red...

Kevin as a voice would have been a great fit for sure....

Robin is a unique voice, I can't wait to hear him on a new Survivor tune....

Kevin Chalfant was my first choice to be Journey's new singer, but I think Arnel is a great choice too.

Kevin would have been great in Survivor, that is if he were the long term singer.

Joe Lynn Turner would have been great.

And like Slander mentioned, maybe even Johnny Edwards.

And Arnel P would have been great in Survivor, although I doubt that Frankie even knew who he was in 2006.

So can we assume that there will be a new Survivor album with Robin McCauley?

Obviously I want a new Survivor album. But in all seriousness, I think that it's vitaly important that any band put's out a new album when they get a new singer. I don't think a new singer can ever be fully supported by the fans untill they have recorded a new album with the band. Right now you have everyone comparing Robin to Jamison and Bickler, and since Robin doesn't have a smooth vocal style like Jamison, a lot of people don't think that he's a good fit for Survivor. But if we all get to hear a new Survivor album with Robin on vocals, then it would be easier to accept him as being the singer in Survivor.

And then like you've said, Joe, the Robin McCauley Survivor era can fully kick in.

I can say this....I know Frankie has it in him to do a far superior album to Reach...It was not in the cards for that to be a great album...but sonically I really liked alot of it...and Gimme the Word and and One More Chance are fucking stellar...those two tracks are enough to give it a 93% for me....considering I have seen albums get 95's and 96's without one song as strong as either of these on other sites.....

I think if Frankie puts the nose down, and captures all that Robin is capable of it will make the first Mecca (which recieved a 100 on this site, thanks Andrew!!) to shame....we will need a new numbering system hahahahahahah

He is a brilliant guy...I just wish others knew him as well as I do.....I understand all sides of Frank, I see the points alot of people bring up....but as a package he is a great human being....we are all triangles: Friends side, Business/Work side and Personal/Family/Spiritual side....unfortunately the fans usually only see one side, and it's usually the one they want you to see....

Talk soon.....Se ya!!

I gotta get that shit, Joe...will soon as I know Andrew's long been a fan.

Also, couldn't agree more about Give Me The World. UNBELIEVABLE song, just a moody, menacing slow burner. Agressive, tough Jamison vocal and Frankie had that sick sound he captured (some feedback going on?) that was unique to the guitars on THAT track.

A great point that fits on the Journey Board as well. A lot of people wonder why Journey is bothering with new material since we know they won't play it live very long and it is not going to sell a lot. I think you gave the best reason of all.
