What I dont understand is why are some people on this website are so excited and will be spending"big bucks" to see a band that will be using this website to promote Journey.Dumb as shit,must be blind faith,go for it.

Because, before SchonCo went insane and screwed the band up, this was a place where fans visited, interacted and made friends. You joined way after the JSS drama that pissed a lot of people off last year, but understand that plenty were here before that and it wasn't just Journey that kept them visitng. It does not mean they are dumb as shit. Maybe many are unhappy with the direction the band took recently, but that doesn't mean their love for Journey as they knew and once loved it is gone.

Yeah pretty much. Moving on with the times and technology is one thing, but putting all the focus on it and ignoring the rest of the fanbase - something else entirely. The lads and lasses who became fans after seeing them as the opening act in 1978 aren't screwing around on Second Life. Hell, I'm right in the target ages for that and even I'm not screwing around with that. There's nothing rock and roll about sitting at a computer watching cartoons act out what rock stars should be up a real stage doing.

Yeah pretty much. Moving on with the times and technology is one thing, but putting all the focus on it and ignoring the rest of the fanbase - something else entirely. Agreed....I have no need for a second life either... one reality works well enough for me. I think Neal and Jon want to live on in an imaginary world where they are forever young. I guess this is one way to try to leave a legacy, sad way, but a way. The demography they are trying to attract to their imaginary island will only be there for the cheese factor.

I meant the whole "dropping JSS like a hot potato" fiasco last summer. That was a terrible choice and it pissed people off. I was referring to the way this place and these fans were before all that went down. But you're another one who jumped on the MR train in the fall after all that went down, and after the . If SJ read my post he would know what I meant because he was here and has been a member long enough to know exactly what I meant.

Ok for the 2nd time, I'll reiterate. It's TICKETMASTER that used that stock photo. The THEY You refer to, YOU incorrectly assume is Journey, but in this case, it's Ticketmaster using what they have so there is a pic to go along with the ticketoffer. I think Journey is slow as hell in getting them the new pics but I'll take pics of posters and all of that when I'm in Vegas to show you how that show was promoted.

Tell me how they are ignoring "us". They are putting a lot of effort into new technology and new promotion, true. But there is still going to be a website (we will see how much "stuff" is on it). They weren't accused of abandoning the older fans when they went on MySpace. The demographic of that is younger than us as well. They will still be touring...that is where OUR demographic is reached most. The only other way "we" used to be reached was the radio...and that ain't gonna happen. So where would you like to see Journey put forth it's promotional effort? I know I would like to see them do some TV but we all know that doesn't add up to sustained promotion. Second Life is something that will continue. And, lucky for the band members, will take little input from them. It is sustainable promotion, along with MySpace and the Official Website. It is a no-brainer really. But I hope they are the lookout for other new avenues (that I am sure will still cater to newer generations than us since all our avenues are pretty much gone) since the world changes fast. MySpace is already on the decline. Something new always comes along. And something will come along after Second Life as well. That is the main reason I hope they still pay attention to the standard Website.
