What is up with the font style. Is that supposed to be "Escape"-type. Am I dreamin' or is it styled after Chinese, Japanese or some other eastern language.

I hope I don't get impaled for this, but...is the focus of the new Journey going to be hitting it big in the East?

Looks like the business plan to me. Not that its bad or anything.

No worries - I had the same initial reaction - I bet a lot of folks did. Took a minute to adjust my eyes. The site isn't great, but isn't horrible. Needs a clearer font on those headings and buttons, and that band history page is GOD AWFUL (in terms of look and layout, I mean).

As did I. Went in and poked around for a moment or two. I guess I'm going to have to come up with a journey-appropriate avatar to use there. I don't think the Summer's Evil box is going to go over very well. :?

It looks pretty good - the futuristic font is hard to read, but...more info on ALL the band members & their contributions, so that's good. Discography part...not sure why TBF doesn't have something more like say, "Grammy nominated song"?! ROR part reads awkward - i.e., firing.

I did a brief tour - was absolutely stunned to see Jeff even acknowledged on the site at all - looks like they are covering all their past members and configurations, except why the lousy black and white photo from ROR? They couldn't find a color shot of Smitty or Perry?

Needs a bit of tweaking, but I have to be honest, I thought it looked pretty good - and I wanted to hate it with a passion.

Now, that forum - yikes! I had a BT screenname (Mistiejourney! Go figure!) but I never used it. As it appears that all posters to the new forum must be sure to bring their Journey pom-poms and

1. it's a pretty sure deal there will be no discussions of any pre-Arnel incarnations of the band unless accompanied by drooling and

2. I'm done with Journey as it now exists

I won't be joining.

I'm sure that will break a ton of hearts!

Pretty obvious that statement is not for the new fans who wander in, but for the eyes and minds of more than a few MR posters. It's an advanced warning.

Well, they have all of the shots of the reissue books up there too, surely they could have plucked something era-appropriate from there. They do seem to be using read headshots on that band page though. But still, that isn't totally necessary. That page is a total mess. I would have gone with the professional promo shots from each era - surely the band/managemant could scare up ONE they wouldn't get busted for using - if proper headshots couldn't be obtained (or permission for them).

I wonder if they will tolerate that. It wouldn't surprise me if they ran around to different message boards to make sure only "real" Journey fans are allowed to stay.

So far, not digging it completely. They did clean it up and improve the layout/coloring, but changing the font of the site name and it's title pages to look Asian (I realized it technically isn't, but it looks it) seems like they did it on purpose.

Why? They already have an Asian in the band, why do they have to make the page look Asian? :? Does that mean that an accent is going to (still) be in the songs, too?

Debbie

P.S. As far as content is concerned, I don't see that improving in the long term.

P.P.S. Hell, I'll register anyway so that I can watch the train wreck that is about to happen. Anyone starting up a pool about how long it takes them to ban people?

I hate the new fonts too. I didn't make the Asian connection, but now I see it. They are no better than pandering politicians, are they?

I used to worry about that before, when Cat was on both sites. I asked specifically! But as far as I am concerned, if I am following the rules there, that is all that they should be concerned with. But, I try not to be negative even when I am being critical. And I have already posted an inquisitive concern or two. ;)

Actually looks Hindu to me. But I have seen this font (or similar) used in the past. Doesn't bother me at all and it seems like some might be reading to much into it.

As an Asian guy, I can tell you that TO ME, the font hearkens back to EGYPT...I don't know maybe it has something to do with the SCARAB?

It's not heiroglyphics like this place:
http://www.upennmuseum.com/hieroglyphsreal.cgi

But think The Mummy starting Brendan Fraser and then egypticize it.

Personally, I'm shocked to sheep shit that they actually put a forum back there. If I were a betting man, I would have bet my testicles that the forum would never return...the band fucking hated BT from day one.

I suspect in a desperate attempt to get the forum back, they made some serious promises to keep the forum a completely clamped down promotional tool for the band, nothing else.
