Arrival, Red13 and most certainly Generations are better than TBF, Infinity, Evolution and possibly even Departure.
I'll pre-empt Susie Teller's tried and true "In your opinion" with my own, "in this poster's humble opinion."

Wait, you think I'm Susie!??? :!: :?: :?:

That aside, you need to add: "by the way, I think Survivor is just as good as Journey, so everyone take my opinions with that in mind". :P

Come on Joepa...Everyone also knows you think Augeri is 10 times the singer Perry ever was! I love ya, man, but...you are CLEARLY biased to ANYTHING, Augeri! For the record, I thought Arrival was VERY good. I never really understood why Arrival didn't get more attention, because I thought there were some GREAT tracks on that CD! That said, Generations was and is a complete embarrassment to the Journey name!

As for the Augeri versus Perry comparison...Let me use a sports expression. Augeri, although a reasonable singer, couldn't carry Perry's jockstrap

A lot of people don't seem to realize just how much filler there is in Evolution and Departure. Great great songs on both records, but they both seem just as tossed-together to me as Generations if not more.

Saying Infinity is Inferior, though.... c'mon man. Just.... c'mon.

Better than EVOULUTION???INFINITY:??? Just what kind of crack ARE you smoking?

I do, btw, really like RED 13 and think it gets a terribly bad rap. A couple of really good songs there (particularly WAFTE)

There is no way in hell any album after Perry left will ever come to close to touching the early classic Journey. To me, Infinity, Evolution, Departure is the real sound that was starting to make this band legendary, then came Escape, and the rest is history. The lineup on those early albums speak for themselves.

Regarding Generations, what's the beef with "Butterfly"? I know it's as far from a rocker as you can get, but I think it's a great song.

I agree with that completely. Aside from maybe two songs on ROR, it is the Journey album I'm most embarrassed to blast on my stereo while driving. And TBF? Love that album, but waaay too ballad-heavy. Arrival had a nice blend of rockers/ballads and Generations was laid out a bit poorly trackorder-wise, but still take them over the previous two any day. Arrival was already their best album since Frontiers. I also think that maybe Red13 shouldn't have come out so soon, and maybe could have been worked into Generations somehow.

Better than Evolution, maybe. Better than Departure... well, as a total package and (especially with Arrival) based on consistency alone, you bet. But Infinity? Um, no. Infinity is second only to Frontiers in my opinion. Yes, you heard me, I like Infinity better than Escape. Escape had more hits, Infinity had more Dunbar. Ohh... just had a good idea... time for a 3-disc marathon of Infinity/Evolution/Departure back-to-back. Been all too long since those days.

I probably need to listen to the whole song again, because I only remember the main melodies, verses and bridges.

Yes there IS a way the Augeri era stands up.
Remember Me.
Higher Place.
World Gone Wild.
We Will Meet Again.
Faith In The Heartland.
The Place In Your Heart.

No way ANY of those wouldn't be a top track on and fit right into anything on the classic era.
I leave The Time, which may be the best song of the bunch, out because the band was clearly less concerned with keeping to the template there (and the results are incredible).

Remember Me is the only good song on that list. the rest are pure shit. Some have good music , but none have good music and vox except Remember Me. None of those songs makes it on Escape or Frontiers. They're vocally inept and thus disqualified. You're more fuckin' senile than Paterno.

Everyone here would've raved about the song if it hadn't had the word "Butterfly" in it. It's a good song and hating the song simply because of one word in the song is stupid.
