My sentiments exactly. Heart is Ann and Nancy regardless of the instrumental players. They are the original band. There's a legitimacy there that merits closing the show, especially since this is Journey's first tour with their (3rd) new singer. If they manage to somehow carve out a new following for Arnel (with new music), then it would be a different story. But if they're just touring the GH's, Heart closes every time IMO.

The only band on this tour with their ORIGINAL lineup? CHEAP TRICK (and they should headline, by that standard)

They should alternate who opens, covers the mid section and ends. All three are pretty much equal. It's one of those decisions I wouldn't like to make, as the opening band is always gonna feel....are we here to fill the space and are the other two bands better.

Styx opened for Deep Purple and Thin 'fuckin' Lizzy and went along with it, shows how desperate they are to make cash, doesn't it

I don't think Cheap Trick has reached Heart's level of album sales.

I don;t see ten thousand seat venues especially a casino arena booking this kind of show if Heart is not closing.
will go for their set and possibly to see cheap trick. Think that Ann Wilson has an awesome voice.
not interested in the slightest or least of seeing journey. Think that with a new unknown singer the idea of them headlining and closing a show at a large venue like that is not a reality and a joke and slap in the face to heart,
Just my opinion.,

To use Reo as an example, they've gone back to basics and re-created a special formula without the help of second, third or forth fucked up life........Reo have kinda found that middle ground, the space that re-generates and suddenly finds why the fuck they started in the first place zone. Journey are lost as a group...they've traded the rawness for cyberspace, commercial payback, relying on an audience that is here for the moment gone tomorrow.

I look forward to REO and I cringe at what Journey are doing. I wish Arnel an acceptable career but that's about all. Journey ain't Chicago or Styx, they're a washed up band trying to get on the new bandwagon...No fuckin' way are they gonna make it, it's over without Perry...Totally. Styx you join second world, you're fuck as well, okay Tommy

Heart can always consider that before signing up.

I remember Journey facing this kind of disdain 8 tours and 10 years ago when Augeri came aboard too.

They kept going.

If you go to this show you might as well stick around and check out Journey.. I'd see no reason not to if you like their music.

although cheap trick may put on the best show, they will definately open(83 at the state fair is still one of the best shows ive ever seen)and play 45minutes. heart will be the middle saw them last year sounded great although the set was cut short because of rain, and the played 4 cover songs out of 12 songs.. journey is the headliner at least on most shows.
this will be a shed summer tour draw about 7500 average to shows, unless they price it around $50.00 and 75 percent of the crowd will not know/care that its not steve perry up there.they will drink beer and enjoy hearing the songs.

PS please mix up the set.

Heart was my first concert. Great show.

Cheap Trick toured with Ratt and Poison. I thought that was odd but they were awesome! (Speaking of the jokes, T-shirt vendors were saying "Giving a RATT POISON is a CHEAP TRICK."

Journey will close. They are announcing the show...it is their show. Heart hasn't had any significant success for MANY years now (although I really liked Jupiter's Darling). Cheap Trick could steal the show but they have the same problem...no serious success after the mid-80's. I truly believe it will be CT, Heart then Journey. But they will liekly have close to equal set times.

I think it sucks to do a triple bill because Journey will yet again only play the DD and they will use the time limits as an excuse. C'mon Journey, can you say "medley"??? It's time.

still do not see a ten thouseand seat venue taking a chance of promoting Journey as a headliner with a new and unknown singer,. Journey did not play at a venue that large at least in this area until 2002. They played smaller 5000 seat venues.
Unless they, ie the band and or the casino/venue. and not to keep going back to it again, plan to not tell anyone that there is a new singer and that it is not Steve Perry let alone Steve Augeri. I seem to recall in 1999 there were things posted at the merchandise table at the venue that SP was no longer in the band. And it was in 98 and 2000 and 2001 a smaller venue. It unfortunately is not the same situation as in 1998. Alot of things have hit the fan and have happened.
I for one am not willing to pay 30-300 dollars to see a casino show with that lineup and have heart not headlining.
At this point in their respective careers, I do not see Journey with this lineup headlining. No offense to Ap I am sure he has alot of talent, however it is a rotten situation, all around. Too much has happened.
Maybe if it were a smaller venue and they were touring with just Cheap Trick alone I could see them headlining,.
Do not see how a large venue will take that chance without a known singer or a known band unless they are not going to
tell anyone. I would go to a show as I have not seen Heart live in many many years and I think Ann Wilson has a heck of a voice. Will not sit through and or stay for Journey;s set. I have spent too much time energy and money on them.
To me it is saying that I agree with their choices and decisions and how they handled things and treat their singers ie SA and JSS. Therefore I cannot sit through their set.
If I want to see and hear Journey I can listen to the cds, watch the dvds (both SP and SA era) and if I am that adventurous go see Evolution with Hugo.
I have lost all my desire to see live music, and spend time and energy on bands etc. Not worth the effort anymore.
Just my take and opinion.
would be willing to hang out with old friends before or after the show, like at the casino, however not even sure if it were a smaller venue how much I would be willing to pay to get into the venue to do that.

If they were smart, they'd determine the lineup via region. When playing in back east, make CT the headliner. When in the PNW, have it be Heart. In the SW, have it be Journey. Everywhere else, toss a coin.

You guys are dellusional if you think Heart is going to be anything but a closer on this bill. Ann and Nancy...the two that started and have maintained that band for 25 years over a band with a lead singer no one has remotely heard of?! Give me some of what you guys are smokin'!!

You make a good argument Ang, I think Journey has the stronger catalogue though. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. :D I mentioned this bill to my wife and she seemed pretty interested in it. I guess we'll have to go.

The fact is that the promoters are not taking a chance on Arnel (as in 'not Perry or even Augeri') they are simply booking JOURNEY. The name carries quite a bit of weight. And the band proved themselves last year when they were able to extend the DL tour with "unknown to most of the US lead sing JSS".

I do not see Heart headlining this one, otherwise Journey would not be doing the lead off promo of the tour. Besides, Journey is the band that will have a CD of new material to support. They will be the ones creating the most buzz. However, I can see equal playing times for 2 or even all 3 bands...giving us the shitty DD setlist YET AGAIN!

"Magic Man", Barracuda", "Crazy On You", "These Dreams" "Dreamboat Annie" against "Open Arms", "Wheel In The Sky" and Don't Stop Believin"? We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I've seen both of them in the last three years and Heart blows Journey out of the water, IMO. Sorry, but there is no way Journey will headline this...that's thinking with your heart, not your head! :P

Journey's not the just the current line-up. I was a fan for 22 years, and still am - of the previous line ups. There's a lot to talk about re: Journey without jumping on the current incarnation.

Some of these folks have been here almost ten years, with a lot more in common than just Journey.

If this place gets to be nothing but the new stuff, I'll be on my way, but until then Journey has a history that we were all a part of and that's why I stay.

And the folks are cool, too. :D

I have no plans to see them, either.

Not thinking with my heart at all! Journey was simply okay last year. Don't care to see them again really. Journey's catalogue is much deeper than Hearts. Why stop at OA, WITHS, and DSB? If I end up seeing the tour, I'tll be to see Heart because they're the only ones I haven't seen before (and because the wife wants to go. :D )
Believe me it's not because I'm dying to see another version of Journey.
