Hillary Clinton cries in Connecticut
by Jason George

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sen. Hillary Clinton teared up this morning at an event at the Yale Child Study Center, where she worked while in law school in the early 1970s.

A doctor, who was introducing Clinton, began to choke up, leading Clinton's eyes to fill with tears, which she wiped out of her left eye. At the time, the doctor was saying how proud he was that sheepskin-coat, bell-bottom-wearing young woman he met in 1972 was now running for president.

"Well, I said I would not tear up; already we're not exactly on the path," Clinton said with emotion after the introduction.

Clinton is holding a roundtable discussion with Connecticut women to talk about childcare and healthcare.

When Clinton got misty-eyed at an event in New Hampshire on Jan. 7, politicos and pundits filled hours discussing if it helped her, and Clinton eventually pointed to the moment as when she "found her voice" and turned the corner in the Granite State.

At the time, there was much debate if the candidate's emotional response to a question -- "How do you do it?"" -- was genuine or calculated.

What would people say if Romney or McCain burst into tears at an appearance?

If she can't handle the pressures of a campaign without crying, how on earth can she handle the pressure of being the President of the United States?

WTF is a biased thread? I have no problem with a president crying during emotional times - he/she would be inhuman if they didn't, but for the love of GOD! This is just the campaign stage! If I see Mitt Romney crying on the trail, I'm bailing on his wimpy ass!

Give me a FREAKING break!!

How many 300lb football players were crying like BABIES last night on BOTH sides. But nobody calls them weak. That she has to keep herself FROM crying says a lot about our society.
It makes me mad when I cry, because I know people will perceive it as weak.

It's just emotions. Men do it too, but generally they've been shamed from an early age to hold it all in.

And she wasn't talking about the "crying" incident when she said she found her voice, she was talking about all the town hall meetings, opening herself up more one on one with people, including the f'ing media.

It's a tight rope she's having to walk that I hope someday women in power in this country won’t have to walk - not being seen as an "emotional women" yet not being seen as "distant and uncaring."

Lol, it’s a good thing I don’t get emotional

I just think the media is doing us such a disservice, and has become dangerously irresponsible.
Oye! Don't get me started!
oops... too late!

Romney has a shot. A long shot, but he has a shot. He's currently leading in the polls in CA which is good. McCain is not getting my vote, so I'll take whatever comes my way. OH, and I won't be crying about it either.

Well, our enemies aren't looking at our pro football players and rubbing their hands together in delight over what a pushover they will be when they are President, are they? 3 out of 4 polls in CA have McCain up 8 points. The only poll that has Romney up is good ol Rasmussen, and they aren't a valid polling company.

Really?

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, led McCain 40 percent to 32 percent in California, where the margin of error was 3.3 percentage points. A win in California, the most populous state, could help puncture McCain's growing momentum in the Republican nomination fight.

Let the conversation begin again...

Okay, I don't like Hillary Clinton at all. However, I absolutely believe this was sincere. This was her university, her past and she understandably had to be proud of where she had come from and where she is now.

I read the book "Right Turns" by Michael Medved, who went to law school at Yale when Hillary was there and said she was very nice and rather like an "earth mother" type - very different from the image she has today.

Women and men are not the same - the fact that she feels strong enough to show emotion tells me that this is a woman comfortable with her gender and where she is at in her life.

Dear God, I just defended Hillary Clinton and I can't believe it. But fair is fair and I don't think this incident was fake or a sign of weakness.

That's not the only one I found. Dean said the only poll showing Romney in the lead in California was Rasmussen, so I was excited to show him that wasn't the case. Like I said originally, I know it's a long shot, but I'm hopeful. If it doesn't happen, so be it. No tears from me either way.

Sorry about that. I need to use that icon less. Hard when you're talking about a woman who one day says she will force you into her healthcare plan and garnish your wages to pay for it, and the next is bawling like a damn baby. I'll try to rein in that sarcasm.

More of the pussification of America. If you can't control your emotions do us a favor and drop out of the race. I cannot take another four years of "I feel your pain".

Reagan cried often when he spoke of Nancy WHILE in office! The fact that he cared so deeply for her was one of his more appealing traits.

If you don't like Hillary, fine. But saying that her tearing up TWICE in public over many years should make her drop out is just ridiculous

Don't you find it interesting that the only time she cries is when she is down in the polls and feeling the pressure from Obama? She's crying because she can't take the pressure. There is a difference.
