DEBATE:What Song Has a Better.....

Postby T-TIME » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:07 am

Help settle a long debate for me. Is there a song that has a better beginning than these? You know those first few bars that make you lunge for the volume. Pure adrenaline rush. These are my FAB 5. I hope for some responses to settle a argument

1. GnR - "Sweet Child Of Mine"
2. Journey - "Don't Stop Believin "
3. Springsteen - "Born To Run"
4. Van Halen - "Jump"
5. Prince - "Get Off" (I'll take some heat for this one)

Great one. There's another little diddy by them that should be in that top 5

Well, out of the ones you named I would say Don't Stop Believin.

Eye Of The Tiger has a great intro.

Instead of "Get off" by Prince. I'd go with "Let's Go Crazy" I'm not a Prince fan, but that friggin' song is great. :D

"Sweet Child O' Mine" has always been a song that gets my blood pumping. Back when I was a well-conditioned athlete (before I discovered Oreos), that song was a staple for EVERY one of my workouts! As for the rest of that list...I would also agree with DSB! "Jump" was always too cheeseball for my taste. I would add "You Shook Me All Night Long" to that list! Great tune!

I couldn't agree more. "Shook me" should be #5. "Sweet Child" gets me fucking "jacked" every time.

If the adrenaline rush is the criteria, then out of your top 5, I pick Sweet Child. Kick starts the heart and attitude with more effectiveness than a triple espresso.

DSB, while an all time fav, has a softer opening. Give me Stone in Love over DSB for an adrenaline opening.

You know what? Screw that. Give me ESCAPE over DSB for an adrenaline opening! lol....

"Stone In Love" is actually a SUPERB choice for adrenaline rush songs. I agree that it simply has a better, and faster tempo than DSB!

I Agree personally but you won't hear that on radio. I should have been more specific. Escape would be Two on the list.

Definately that one, and Van Halen's Finish What You Started...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMvjEyzZGz8

Always reach for the volume when I hear the first few bars of either one. :)

Gmaj7/sus4

Here's what a lot of people think it is:

# A dominant 9th of F in the key of C
# G-C-F-Bb-D-G
# C-Bb-D-F-G-C in the key of C
# A polytriad ii7/V in Ab major
# G7sus4 (open position)
# D7sus4 (open position)
# G7 with added 9th and suspended 4th
# A superimposition of Dm, F, and G
# Gsus4/D
# G11sus4
# G7sus7/A
# Dm11 with no 9th
# Gm7add11
# G9sus4/D

Great choice!
