Fuckin Jesse Harms. Me and that dude got so fucked up one night in SoCal, closed the bar down, and somehow stole a bottle of Yukon Jack from some Mexican liquor store. Crank called Cronin and I was doing impersonations of KC on the phone, very drunk. Think I belted out, In My Dreams. I was making fun of the Limp Wrister, and Jesse passed out. We both passed out in the car. Was awakened by some gas station attendant at 800AM.

Okay, so for you people who say Heart is abandoning their hits, take a closer look at the setlist.
-Bebe Le Strange
-Kick It Out
-Straight On
-Love Alive
-Alone
-These Dreams
-Dog And Butterfly
-Even It Up
-Magic Man
-Crazy On You
-Barracuda

These 11 tunes were all rock radio hits from the 70's and 80's. These are NOT obscure album cuts from their early days, these are recognizable radio friendly tunes.
They also add half a dozen songs from their most recent album. Obviously, those tunes aren't nearly as familiar to most, but it is their latest album and they are trying to promote it (something people have been complaining that Journey has NOT been doing). The Zeppelin covers is something that Heart has ALWAYS done. Like it or not, Led Zep is one of their biggest influences and they like to pay homage. Besides, they are one of the very few artists out there who can actually do those songs justice.

The mid to late 80's Heart tunes are NOT the songs that made the band who they are. In fact they alienated many of their die-hard fans with their output during that period. They do still play a couple songs from those albums, so they are not ignoring them.

Heart's crowd is the classic rock crowd. How often do you hear "Never" or "All I Wanna Do..." on classic rock radio? The tunes that have stood the test of time with their major audience are the ones that they are indeed performing.

Heart (85), Bad Animals (87) and Brigade (90) - 3 of th best female fronted rock CDs ever.

I agree. Hope I don't catch hell for this but I would like to also add that during that same period of time there was an all female rock band in Japan who reminded me a lot of Heart and I liked their music just as much. They also did a few Zeppelin covers as well. These videos below are so 80's it ain't even funny, but at the time they were very cool. First vid has some broken English lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXwVGmU36lQ

This next song is all in English, Obviously singing in English was one of their biggest problems, but the music is cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gosP3d0H4Bs

And this last one was one of their most popular songs of all, called "I'm a Hurricane."

Personally, I NEVER hear "Never" (or If Looks Could Kill) on classic rock radio. Doesn't mean they're not good songs, but the fact is, they were not written by Heart and they are not as popular with their fanbase as their 70's hits are.

I have to say, I'm let down that Heart won't play the 80's era songs. I prefer those to their earlier stuff.

Yup. Casual fans have a different outlook, don't they?

No kidding. How many times have you heard people on this board bitch about bands not doing deeper into their catalouge and just playing the "big" hits. Heart has gotten past that putting in songs like Dreamboat Annie and Bebe Le Strange. If I never heard any song from their 1985 self titled in concert I'd be perferctly fine with that. They can stay in their 70's catalouge for the whole show as far as I'm concerned. Just can't please the chronically discontent.

Yet you bitch and moan about Kansas doing the same thing.

Yep, i totally agree.

OK, so the early material is considered more hip these days, but to just simply ignore their 3 biggest selling records is just ludicrous. Why they can't mix it up a little is a mystery to me, would probably shift a few more tickets too.

I don't think they're ignoring those records as much as they don't feel any connection to them since most of that stuff wasn't written by the band.

And um...Andrew, you're fucking awesome dude, but isn't their early stuff what made them great? "Alone" and all those mid-80's tunes were okay for what they were, but they could've been recorded and released by anyone since they just came from generic professional 80's songwriters. Sure, Ann sang the shit out of them but they weren't really Heart. No different than Cheap Trick's "The Flame" or Aerosmith's "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing." Successful, but not really having much to do with the bands who recorded them.

Cheap Trick and Aerosmtih continue to play a selection of ALL their hits live - including these two. That is my point.

Yeah, but CT and Aerosmith have one song like that. Heart has 3+ albums full of that crap. As far as I know they still do "Alone" and a couple others from the era, they're just not using those LP's as the main basis of their set since they had little to do with the creation of them. They pretty much sacrificed the integrity of their band to stay alive in the 80's, and maybe they're not comfortable with that decision in hindsight?

My first concert ever was Heart's self-titled tour. Loved it. Love that music as much or more than the origianl classics. I understand Heart didn't care for the direction they were pressured to take in the 80's but the music is solid because they are great musicians/singers. It connected with a huge audience and sustained the band throught the 80's. Without it I am not sure the band would be still touring. So, while I understand WHY they feel that way, I would like to think they could understand why we feel the way we do. Those songs may have been written by other people but we loved them because they were recorded by HEART.

BTW I LOVED Battle Of Evermore from the Singles soundtrack. Maybe they could drop the other Zep covers and just play that one, leaving room for an 80's/90's hit or two.

I agree that they are an acquired taste. The first Kansas album I purchased was "Leftoverture" simply because I wanted to have the album with "Carry on Wayward Son" on it. I couldn't stand the rest of the songs but I listened to it many more times because the intricate song arrangements were kinda interesting and I ended up loving the album and eventually got into their whole catalogue.

Anyway, it's a matter of preference as to if they suck in concert or not. They have a fairly strong hardcore following that thinks otherwise and I've yet to catch a bad show by them. True, Walsh's voice has been shot since the early 90s but he's a great keyboard player and the other guys are top notch also, not to mention that the re-addition of David Ragsdale on violin and guitar has really re-energized them as a band onstage.

Anyway, to each his own. :D

I am willing to test my skills and say that since Heart and Journey will be at the same show, I bet Arnel is going to sing "Without You" Heart's version. I wouldn't be surprised if this song also is included on the Journey CD as well, since no one's really done a remake of that tune since Mariah.

Below is the link to Heart singing "Without You." Note the "add-lib" that Heart adds to the song. This is the version that Arnel would sing in the 80's and then I would sing in the 90's when I had joined up with one of the other original AMO band members to form another band. Very hard song but when accomplishing the objective on stage, it really has an incredible effect on the audience. By the way, Arnel did this song live much better then Heart did on this live video.
