OT: George Washington

My daughter has to do a report on George Washington and I found the following, rather interesting, comment about him...

Washington was not a member of any political party, and hoped that they would not be formed out of fear of the conflict and stagnation they could cause governance.

Hmmm...Sounds like what the Republican and Democratic parties are doing to government these days.

Quite true. Of course, in those days, you had the Whigs and the Federalists, too...there were more options.

Anyone read 1776.. that just came out i think in 2006??? GREAT READ.
