One of the best new bands out there: Melee.

http://www.myspace.com/meleerocks

Their debut album "Devil and Angels" floored me.Awesome melodic stuff.
This one is my favorite song:

A fairly new group from Belfast Ireland - classic blues rock - sounds a lot like Led Zep- high energy shows. If you think that new material ought to sound like classic rock, this is a group for you.

hmmm... here are a few local bands, that have emerged from Vaasa, Finland:

Wild Force - http://youtube.com/watch?v=aLsZkZlwcG8

Klamydia - http://youtube.com/watch?v=1pbsz_mf9dE

Sturm Und Drang - http://youtube.com/watch?v=ngUq_8Ip4yI - http://youtube.com/watch?v=OiO2_gBsG5s

Yes, the first is an 80's band... not very active at the moment
The second one is still active, punk refuses to die... heh
The third one is current: the boys are 15 years of age - debut album went to #3 in the Finnish charts. Spot the German infuences... heh.

Lifehouse. Why? Profound lyrics that speak to me, impassioned and emotional performance and humility. On this particular song, Jason Wade goes into this "zone" and is so into the song (especially at the end) it's like he forgets where he is. The song was written about a close friend and mentor of his who is dying. I guess after seeing Journey go through the motions so many times, it's refreshing to see an artist who genuinely is connected to the song and conveys his emotions in his performance.

If you haven't heard of him take a listen. Love this guy. He has a great soulful voice and he did some great songwriting on his "Carencro" cd.
There is currently a promo running on the Turner channels for the NBA AllStar Game this friday with him singing ...here it is..

I actually missed this post the first time 'round... hopefully nobody's mentioned these guys-

This is a band called L.E.O.. They're a group made up of a bunch of people from other band including Bleu, Jellyfish (Andy Sturmer!!!!!!), Hanson, and some others who I can't remember off the top of my head.

It's a tribute to ELO and they're new songs done in the ELO/Jeff Lynne/Wilburys style. VERY cool production. If you're into retroey kind of stuff, it's really cool. The album is called "Alpacas Orgling". Dumb video, but great tunes throughout the album

http://youtube.com/watch?v=IWgEbxe7OQ0

_____________

Another favorite is Silvertide. Their album came out two years ago and I discovered them by downloading WinAmp and it had a free Silvertide Mp3 with it. IT KICKED SERIOUS ASS! These guys have serious balls:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=XHM50P5hG6I

Sorry for the low quality clip. Another great song is California Rain. Great band.

_______________

Forgot some! Something Corporate. These guys might be done now but they had some great songs.
21 and Invincible http://youtube.com/watch?v=iqIQM2aWxyI
Space http://youtube.com/watch?v=UieiYF-b130

EMO band, but I don't care. I like them. I took my daughter to see them and just dug their show.

_______________

Acceptance
I think these guys might now also be done -weird, young bands don't last...

Take Cover http://youtube.com/watch?v=GEGZsOuJOUo

_____________

Jimmy Eat World
Futures http://youtube.com/watch?v=CPtR7ROvWyI&feature=related
this is a great song and album.

Cool. Wasn't wild about the first one, but their myspace page has some cool stuff on it. Creepy album cover.

Listened to it again, yeah, it's cool. They have an in store performance on their myspace site too.

I also recommend PT. The band I recommended on page 1, Blackfield, is essentially a side project of this MAJESTIC band.

I can't encourage people enough to listen to Porcupine Tree, they have something for everyone.
