I'm ridiculously pumped for this season. Toyota's hitting full stride, lots of new open wheel talent coming into the sport, Junior has a new team, the new car body... all kinds of new and fun storylines to follow.

Who all are you backing and booing this year? I'll mainly be cheering on Tony Stewart, Dave Blaney, Sam Hornish Jr., and Robby Gordon. I also tend to cheer for the independent/small team guys (Boris Said, Joe Nemecheck especially) and the old guard (Martin, Elliott, Jarrett, etc.). I'd be thrilled to see someone like Schrader or Kenny Wallace nab a win this year.

Of course, I'll be rooting against Earnhardt. Nothing against the guy personally, I grew up hating on an Earnhardt and will always continue to do so. 8) Plus it's fun to see him suck and make fun of his many fans... hahaha.

I think the champion will be a Hendrick driver. Johnson has a great shot to three-peat and you should never rule out #24.

Predicted Daytona 500 Winner: Jimmie Johnson

Predicted Sprint Cup Champion: Jeff Gordon

Predicted Chase Competitors: Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick, Juan Pablo Montoya

Predicted Rookie of the Year: Patrick Carpentier

First-Time Winners: Dave Blaney, Patrick Carpentier, Reed Sorensen

First Guy to Lose a Ride: Jeremey Mayfield

I am pumped.

My boy JJ is on the pole for the 500.

48 is simply the best team. Best driver, bets Chief and best owner.

I hate Earnhardt. Glad he won that race last week...Hahaha worth 0 points. He sucks.

I hate Gordon too. Whiny ass.

Tony and the Blue Duce are going to wreck each other Saturday.

BTW, Tony is great, and fat too. Fat people rule. But he isn't as smart or as good as Jimmie.

Anyone who doesn't give Nascar a shot, is simply missing something cool. Enjoy watching that shit called NBA.

Yeah, E is the man  He wins 1 race every three years.

I hate Gordon too, but he does have a supermodel wife, as does Jimmie, and come to think of it, you never see Jr with a girl do you? The guy makes millions off his daddy's name. He sucks compared to Jimmie and Jeffy.

JJ has won more races in the past year than DEJ has won in the past three, I think!

Haha Dean I've always loved the fat racers. Guys like Tony, Jimmy Spencer. Also dig the "characters" like ol' Dick Trickle and Swervin' Irvan. Miss those guys.

JJ has won more races last year than Jr the last 5.

You gotta be shittin me? You want to wager JR v JJ?

Name it.

Daytona 500. I take JJ to finish higher than Jr. 50 bucks.

# of races won- JJ will win at least 7.
I bet Jr wins 1, tops.

Your call Perrydise.

Deal.

I got the 48 to finish ahead of the 88 for 30 bucks.

That means the official order of finish.

How about a bonus 10 bucks if either wins the race?

Love the fact we're on the pole, the fastest car, and the best driver, but that doesn't mean dick in Daytona.

Good luck Perrydise.

What the hell difference does this shit make? The REAL racing starts next week at California (kind of, considering the track). These four races at the restrictor plate tracks should be considered exhibition races only.

Dude, you are cool but high.

California racing sucks. Boring as Hell.

Those RP races are bitchin. 43 cars within 1/16th of a mile separated by inches, whereas in California, JJ would be lapping Little E in 4 mins.

Amen. So true.

The best racing comes at the short tracks, the road courses, and the restrictor plate courses. As much as I love the sport I can't bear watching more than ten minutes of any race at Chicago, Kansas, Las Vegas, or California. All speedways aren't that bad though... the racing is usually good at Atlanta, Michigan, Texas, Homestead.

Yes, California racing DEFINITELY sucks. (Although it IS getting SOMEWHAT better.) I said "kind of". But at least a driver has to use his brain, and the seat of his pants, and LIFT in the corners. Not just put it to the wood and steer. Ever hear of Derrick Cope? Ward Burton? Bobby Hillin Jr.? Phil Parsons? All restrictor plate race winners. As Michael Waltrip (ANOTHER driver who has only won at a restrictor plate track) once said, "a drunken orangutan could drive a car here".

While Cope, Hillin Jr., and P. Parsons were largely mediocre....

....you gotta give some more love to Ward than that. Dude is a great driver. Put him in with better equipment and he'd contend. Unfortunately he's too much of a bumpkin and not marketable enough, so he'll never see a hot ticket like Hendrick, Roush, or Penske.

I'm going to be sittin back and LMAO when both the 48 and 88 are wrecked out.

Hell, there's too many people/car moves for me to say anything beyond Baby Busch will finish top 15. Though, Martin in that 8... now that MIGHT be an interesting ride for him. ::::shrug::::

The one thing I really MUST know is... Who will be the one to take Shithead out (24)?

I'm just trying to make a point. I like Ward. Even have one of his t-shirts. But he's like another guy I like. Sterling Marlin. Both won Daytona MAINLY because they had a good restrictor plate program. That's always been a big part of Junior's success too. And, his old man. I like Jr. (But hate a lot of of his obnoxious fans). I never liked his old man. (Whose fans are now the obnoxious Jr. fans.) His father used to continually bitch about how restrictor plate racing sucked. DESPITE the fact that type of racing making him a very rich man.

Guess it's time for me to hibernate until Football season starts again. Not such a bad idea, come to think of it. Sleep...something that's been a missing piece in my life for years. Maybe I could catch up.

BTW...the Pro Bowl was the best one I've seen in years. 42-30 NFC. Adrian Peterson rushed for, I BELIEVE, 139 yds. and 2 TDs. TO - 101 yds. 2 TDs. Great game and Peterson was the MVP. He deserved it. That kid is one hell of a player.

I may be wrong on the yardage...I know I'm close...but the exact numbers I didn't keep in mind.

Dude, I know Texas is a huge place, and you might not be close, but do you know Texas Motor Speedway is one of the top sports arenas in the world? And do you know Nascar races are one of THE BEST places to spend an entire weekend and party? Nascar races are not like a football game, where you show up a few hours before kickoff, and leave when the parking lot emptys. The race is April 6th. The campgrounds open MARCH 29TH! These people are SERIOUS about partying! The Nascar race last fall was the first one there I've missed since the track opened in 97, and I hope the last. I'll be back this spring!

These NFL fans on here are as close minded as a locked closet door.

They will never branch out. Their loss.

Gary, remember last year in the chase, it was a RP track, where JJ and JG stayed in the back, and just logged laps, until there was 15-20 laps to go, and made their push. JG won and JJ got second. JJ went on to win 4 straight after that.

My point is, you think they will do this in Daytona? I know JJ has the pole, so he might get his 5 bonus points and fall back. Yea? Nay?

Auto racing is the only sport that I have an interest in (Indy and stock) -- guess I got that from Dad. And, I mean just an interest -- it's not the center of my world, mind you. I enjoy to watch it, but don't have any clear favorites or distain for any of them really. :::shrug:::
