OT: Baltimore Cop vs. Skateboarder

Postby nikki » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:23 am

This is why our crime rate out here is so high!! The police are too afraid to crack down on gang and drug activity, but go apeshit on a 14 year old skateboarder. This kid is obviously scared, and this officer had no business putting his hands on him. Cops like him make those who are doing good work look like bullies. He needs to go!

Although Rivieri didn't have cause to put hands on or yell at kid, said kid would've served himself better by answering questions directly and keeping quiet the rest of the time.

This is standard with any police. You never know when you're dealing with a psycho (as in this case).

The cops outfit sure didn't inspire respect though. Isn't that the same outfit they wear at Footlocker?

Cop was already pissed at having to ride around in a golf cart since his app was rejected from SWAT team.

Would've liked to hear the last part where the cop starts saying "If I find this posted on ..."

Looks like he was suspended (with pay).

The Officer is suspended now and rightfully so. Those teens were nothing compared to the yob culture in the UK. Actually come to think of it we could do with more officers of Rivieri's type over here!

You don't need any more trigger happy cops over there.

Abuse of power in all these cases. Lowlifes that somehow passed the psych tests and using their jobs to exercise their s&m fantasies.

Dumping a wheelchair person to the ground while the cohorts stand by and watch. She needs to go to jail for assault.

Found her name in this article.

Most UK police are not armed. There are a small number that have been issued with weapons because of the response to terrorist activity in the US. Such activity has caused a lot of trigger happy events and loss of life on a massive scale. Go figure.

Trust me, you don't want the likes of him over there. We have so many problems within the Baltimore Police Department with corruption and incompetent officers it's not funny. Our last disgraced police commissioner Ed Norris now makes a joke of himself on one of the local radio stations every day (incidentally, his show is the number 1 radio talk show out here!). I live in the county, and at times it's just as bad, but the Baltimore City PD has to be among the worst in the nation. We had a theft where I work a few weeks ago. I followed the woman to her car and took down her license plate. When an officer arrived 25 minutes after I called this in, he said I must've been mistaken because the tag belonged to a vehicle registered in Charles County and basically told me he wasn't going to bother with it. That's what we put up with in this neck of the woods every day. Law enforcement out here is comical at best.

That is truly sad and more than a little bit worrying.

As someone who was a police officer in another life, I can tell you that it's the most thankless job on the planet. That said, this cop was WAY out of line, and simply not fit to be a police officer! Calling his behavior inappropriate is a GROSS understatement! While I realize that some teenagers can be unruly and downright obnoxious, none of these kids exhibited any of that behavior! This dude simply has some anger management issues, and needs a new gig!
