Told ya, dude! Women HATE that crap! I grew up with three older sisters, so was given a whole lot of insight into the inner workings of a woman's brain and methodologies, and it was frightening sometimes

Women will ALWAYS claim they want the "nice guy", but that's not the reality. Don't get me wrong...they don't want some guy being rude to them or using them. They just want a guy to be a guy, and take charge! As long as you forever adopt that philosophy, you'll never stop getting laid

Danzig would have been perfect for the part of Wolverine. He looks just like him in the comic books.

Anywho, back to the original topic. I spend nothing on Valentines day and I've always told my bf don't bother. It's a bullshit holiday. The commericals make me sick. Especially those diamond commercials. They make it look like your man is just a piece of crap if he doesn't buy you a big 'ol diamond. People should do nice things for each other year 'round and it doesn't always involve presents or spending money. I'm a low maintenance kind of gal. I've been with my man for 8 years and we can still sit up late and have a deep, meaningful discussion about music. Having that kind of connection with someone is more important than having a guy that showers me with roses.

Maybe I saw this here... can't remember, but it RULES!!! Glenn Danzig and Shakira!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZHv3qO_Y8kk

By the way, her voice has that robotic effect I was asking about a week or so ago... Seems to be the thing w/pop music these days, and I hate it.

Rhiannon, if this doesn't get you warmed up for Valentine's Day, I don't know what will! :P

I'll start. I spent approxiamately $2 on 4 Valentine's cards via Wal Mart's 48 cent card section.

No one has to answer. I'm just curious in general. Not trying to be intrusive.

Bubble bath - $8.99
Various sized Vanilla scented candles - $25.00
One dozen jumbo sized red roses - $150.00
Three hour bubble bath with my girlfriend in candle light on Valentines evening - Priceless

Hope that answers your question.

BTW - I buy the roses on Valentines day so that's why they cost so friggin much, and now I know why no one gets married on Valentines day.

You show me a dude writing poems, writing songs, and serenading women, like he's Romeo, and I'll show you a guy who couldn't get laid in a whorehouse with a fistful of fifties! I don't care what ANY woman tells you...Any woman worth having is nauseated by that kind of overkill!

Oh, I don't know. There are two guys in particular who could serenade me and I'd love it. Unfortunately one won't sing anymore. The other is in Europe and is already married.

Come to think of it, so am I. :?

I don't like to get cut roses for Valentines Day. I always ask for a rose bush so it will live on forever. You can get those pretty cheap. Some very pretty ones for under five dollars. And I just cook my husbands favorite meal for Valentines Day. We don't spend a lot at all. :)

You're not supposed to buy your kid crap on Valentine's Day  I've never understood that logic. I never bought my grandmother (who I adored) a card on "Mother's Day", and when my mom asked me why I didn't, my answer was "Because she's not my mother"

My mommy gives me a card on Valentine's day. Being a Mother Fockin Neo Con or so as I'd been labeled  , I'd much prefer stocks and bonds, and a Luie Vittan hand bag, but I guess mommy's love from the five and dime will just have to do.

Wonderful....Valentines day with Ruffuss the Stunt bum.

Seriously though, part of Valentines day (according to my girlfriend) is spending money on her. She for some reason finds that me spending money on her is a way of demonstrating that I care.

John, there are no rules. I always get my girls a little something or I make something (tomorrow they will get little clothespin dolls I make holding hearts & some candy). Valentine's Day is fun - all the kids giving each other cards at school, although the cards aren't as cute as they used to be...I collect the vintage Valentine cards. When the girls are older and can use scissors then we can make our own.
And, as for sappy stuff...I like it if it comes from the heart.
