Not half as big of a bitch slap as 10 years of unconditional loyalty in the form of waiting for Perry to return, nixing your current lineup with Chalfant and Rolie, only to have Perry record and back out on a tour he never planned on doing (per Herbie Herbert...who was smart enough to NOT sign any orders that suppress the truth). That is arguably the biggest "bitch slap" in the history of rock. Yet people would rather whine about how JSS was fired. Irrational and absurd.

No, I won't be buying any re-recorded GH with AP. As Lula said, "why mess with perfection?"

OK...we have basically come to the collective conclusion that Journey should NOT use the rerecords for anything other than promotional purposes. I did some thinking (I know...that's a first) and if Journey does indeed use the GH for anything other than promotional material, like part of a package, I'd like to see it titled something along the lines of "Journey's Greatest Hits 2008 Revisiting the Perry Era." Would that lessen the trauma that this may potentially put some of you through?

I want it, and I know Dave28 does, too.

I want to hear current takes on the classic era material, sue me.

Right, I know I realize for the "Frig/Fro" bash crowd and loons it's a laughing stock but I was always interested when this was brewing w/ Augeri and JSS, too.

One thing, I want some DIFFERENT classics, not just the GH.

And IMO, I think we would have got that with JSS, Arnel's and Augeri's voices sound too much like Perry's. I remember JSS pushing for more of the "different" classics. JSS re-recording them would kinda be like Sammy re-recording some of the VH classics. A different take on them.

Nah, she'd still want a CD recording of Steve Perry's voice running constantly right by the display saying "Remember, if you want to hang on to the glory days, buy these songs with me singing!"

Oh, wait...that'd involve getting Perry into the recording studio. Never mind, she'll have to settle for the 20 foot display of Arnel.

In that case, I might consider buying it - if NONE of the songs were on the original GH record.

I would only buy it simply because of personal ties with Arnel. He along with all the original members of AMO have a very special place in my life because of my involvement with them during my youth. Other then that, I wouldn't buy an album with just re recorded hits by any band. I got what I need from the first release. Now if there was material that was only available recorded live and then some time later they came out with a studio version, that would get me interested enough to purchase the re recorded hits.

Asked a nurse in the Philippines (posts on my nursing board) if he knew who Arnel was and he said not until the announcement about Journey was made, but now it was widely known.

Well said. I think you speak for 97% of the population. The other 3% are the ones who buy Kidz Bop CD's.
