OT - I wanna see Neal do this

Postby StoneCold » Fri Feb 15, 2008 7:00 am

If anyone can find a clip of Neal playing behind his back like this, please post it. I've never seen it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bxiH8G0 ... re=related

Next clip is SRV on Arsenio Hall. Plays House is Rockin and interview starts at 2:37. Mentions his influences and says his fav station was KKDA in Dallas, Texas (soul station?)

Impressive technically, sure.

Neal has written incredible music in the following genres:

Latin-influenced rock
Blues
Jazz
R & B
Rock
Melodic Rock (including Power Ballads)
Melodic Metal
Neo-classical
Easy Listening
Fusion
Hard Rock

Among others.

Let's see THAT axeman do all that.

Neal is one of the ten greatest guitarists in history, period. And he doesn't play behind his back.

Sorry but youre missing a BIG point here..... Neal has a hard time to reach and play the guitar holding it in front of him, there is NO way he could even be able to reach and hold the guitar behind his back.....

I wish Neal could play like SRV or at least this Nobody, called Mathew Mill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7m3aIuGlUg

I haven't watched the video, so I don't know if I've seen Neal play the guitar in the same exact way. But I have seen Neal play the guitar behind his back standing ten feet in front of me on stage.

I've seen Frankie Sullivan play the guitar behind his back too. Hendrix used to do that some, as well as others.

I guess you haven't heard enough of Frankie Sullivan's guitar playing? Because Sullivan is a super guitarist! He's not the flashiest guitarist in the world, but the guy's a great guitarist.

You're kidding right?
I know Neal would play behind the back during the G3 gigs in 2003. And didn't he do it during Fillmore Boogie?

I'm as big of a Jim Peterik fan as their is. If your talking about songwriting, that's probably true. But Sullivan is definitely the better guitarist. I do like Peterik's guitar playing. But Sullivan's the better all around player.

Peterik was obviously a huge part of Survivor, and I very much wish he was still in the band. I agree with you about Pride Of Lions. But I disagree with you about Survivor not kicking ass anymore. Frankie's a great guitarist, Marc's a great drummer, and even though he's not my first choice for the band, Robin's doing a pretty good job all things considered.

Francis Sullivan is a bona fide asshole, but the man was a brilliant axeman and songwriter in his prime.

Thank you! Yes, I knew I had seen Neal do the behind the back thing before but couldn't remember the place nor time.
Still not sure if it was G3 or FB where I saw it, but I know I did somewhere.

Anyway, what's the big deal? Who cares about all that sort of showing off..just play damit!
