At the end of the day, I'm not sure the meaning of the song is terribly important. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a brilliant song, and when Freddie Mercury was asked the meaning behind it, his response was "I have no idea"!

Biblical? It is indeed about alcohol destroying the Family. How the fuck do you thumbdicks pull biblical words out of this?
I know you are not that dense. There are a number of Journey songs have spiritual references in the lyrics, as well as spiritual references in symbols on their cover art...most significantly TBF, in lyrics and cover. I don't see how in the world you haven't seen and heard them all this time. Go read some lyrics. 8)

Fuck off Phyllis. The pimple on my asshole knows more about Journey than you do.

Yes, I am well aware of certain biblical and spiritual lyrics in their catalog.

Don't fuck with me Phyllis. Not today.

Maybe this is what they are referring to :?: :?: :? :? GREAT SONG, none the less!!!

http://www.blurtit.com/q433178.html

What is the seventh son of the seventh known as in Christianity?

The number seven has always been a very mystic or sacred number. It consists of four and three which are always viewed as lucky. Even among the Pythagoreans, these two numbers are accounted as lucky numbers. It is of great significance in Christianity. The number seven keeps recurring through popular mythology as well as daily life. For example there are seven deadly sins, seven heavens, seven Kings of Rome, seven seas, seven wonders of the ancient world and seven senses. Of all the numbers, seven is believed to be the most magical and mystical.

According to folk magic lore, seventh son of a seventh son is someone who is supposed to possess remarkable magical and healing powers. He is born with the gift of clairvoyance, with the ability to cast powerful spells on others. He is thought to be able to heal others by laying his hands on them.

Seven is the perfect number, biblically. There is no specific reference to 'the seventh son' in the bible.

Mother, Father. Perhaps Journey's finest moment this side of "Little Girl" and "Trial By Fire".

I will suffer NO criticisms of that PERFECT song.

I won't give you hell, at all. If you like "Generations", I say more power to you. While you may not see "how generations is that bad", my thoughts are the exact opposite. I don't know how ANYONE can listen to Ross Valory, Neal Schon, and Jonathan Cain singing lead vocals, and come away saying "yeah...that kicked ass"! Those guys couldn't win a Karaoke contest in a local bar, between the three of them! It's one thing to change your singer every time the mood strikes you, but at least let the lead singer do the singing! While I thought Augeri struggled to hit Perry's notes, I thought the guy was a decent singer, and the singing on "Generations" should have been left to him. Thank god suck-ass CD's make good coasters for my coffee cup

Trial By Fire is a sneaky good little song.

The "treasures in the jars of clay fallen down but not destroyed" meant the Journey songs, mothballed for a while but never gone.

And it's musically very subtle and understated but fantastic none the less.

Interesting factoid, Red. Cool.

Smitty's so dead-on on TBF that EVERY musician I played that for assumed it was a loop.

Castronovo's a hell of a player and the band is lucky to have him, but he was the backbone of the rhythm section.

Bah, not fact, just always been one of my own boyish thories (bolstered by the fallen-down jar of clay w/ the scarab on it lying on the beach in the cover), flying of course in the face of my subscription to the theory that he never intended to revive the sung-of treasures in the jars of clay in the live arena at that point.

It's a deep and sad tune, but I don't get the biblical reference in this one.

Although many love to hear it at a show, it always makes me feel sad. It does have meaning 'tho, don't mean to slight it, but at a show I want to feel good, have fun and dance. I'll save this one for my private times at home.

Gimme a break. He sucks.

By the way, Journey/BA was 83, not 81.

I've stated this before and I'll do so again. Jeremey posted a clip some time ago of him singing Mother Father and it was to many, less than good. Honestly, it's the only song I've ever heard him truly struggle through. That song is just too tough to sing. 7 Wishes, your assertion is absurd.

PS Hey Dean, is "On the pole" your way of coming out of the closet?

BA opened for Journey in 1983, on Journey's Frontiers tour.

The majority of the Frontiers tour, BA opened, but also played his own gigs when Journey took nights off. Who'd have thunk BA would eventually become better than Journey?

Jeremey posted that clip of himself, and it is flat out awful. Dude, if your are going to blow, feel free to NOT put your shit up on MR for all of us to see. Some of your stuff is ok, but most sucks. You and I are going to butt heads, and and I am just about ready to smack your ass around.
