You're nuts. The only time he sings "I can see it in your eyes" is in harmony with the other guy. Only the GUFF singer sings that part alone, toward the end of the song. Very hard to discern how strong Steve's voice is on this song, and I'd bet that's just how he wants it. More of his cat and mouse bullshit. You're hearing what you want to hear.
