They gave Arnel a prize?

Well, I gave him a listen. He did ok. Not great. He's clearly better on ballads, but ends up screaming a bit on the faster ones.

I found more things off then on. Case in point, AWYWI... he's slow.... just a tad behind on the fast songs, like he can't hear the band well enough.

I cannot see how he'll last an entire tour. I wish him the best tho. I'll save my money.

Decent job, good energy. But no knockout punch.

Too much screaming/emphasis on the high notes....more warmth needed in the lower register (ie balance).

But he looked like he had a great time, so good luck to them.

If at any point the band was considering letting Ross have a go at "Gone Crazy" now would work really great for me.

I know that I have been ANTI-Arnel since day one. My stance has never changed.

I thought that I would give Arnel a shot tonight. Guy's this is brutal.

Any version of JSS, Augeri or even Chalfant is better.

Have fun in Vegas.

Are you serious...Listen to the boots from Journey's Atlanta show right after JSS joined the band. That was way worse than anything I've heard tonight.

I was in the 2nd row for JSS's first show. I actually enjoyed it and there were no accent issues. I could hear what he was singing.

I was also really late getting in on this -- only heard AWYWI, and it was cutting out. Is it just me, or did Arnel sound really out of sync with the timing in parts? Can't think it was just the stream, or everything would have been off...

Very enjoyable concert - even thousands of miles away with cut-outs, bad audio, and a distorted picture. I won't be saving my money.

I think he did a good job. I think in time he'll just adjust to the schedule and a vocal coach will help.

I'm sure you've wasted money on Journey shows with worse lead singers.

And Zeppelin? C'mon man, Arnel owns a modern Plant.

I gave after DSB. Couldn't hold the stream at all.

I wasn't that impressed anyway, sorry, but... meh.
Anything else after AWYWI?

Will they get their wish?

Agreed.
Something I've been concerned about from the beggining is the haphazzard way this kid kinda slings his voice around.
It reminds me of Augeri, in how he'll just shout out a note and pray like mad it comes out sounding semi-decent.
Luckily for Arnel, he is naturally gifted so most of his yelping sounds good.

Still, Soto, Kevin, and Jeremey are vocal technicians. I listen to them and hear three dudes who know their way around a thorax.

I've heard the boots for most of the shows during the first couple of weeks with JSS in the band and none of them were all that great, including the Indy show where I was eight rows from the stage. He sounded okay in parts but boy did he sound bad on a lot of others, including that god-awful shriek during, I forget which, "Only the Young" or "Ask the Lonely" at the Atlanta show.

Anyway, Arnel didn't sound that bad and he ought to be given time to improve just like we did with JSS. Same treatment for both guys as far as I'm concerned.
