Andrew... CLASSIC!

Postby Rip Rokken » Sat Feb 23, 2008 4:01 pm

Just read this in Andrew's new interview w/Kevin Chalfant:

KC: "I mean when we went out as The Storm and toured with Brian Adams and Peter Frampton and some of the people that we toured around with we fully exploited the fact that Greg was in Santana, and the guys that came from Journey and then the new stuff."

No worries -- I just know how Deano gets riled up to see "Brian Adams"... LOL! Yes, I think a few of us did have free reign of the board for a short amount of time, but we were good little boys and girls. Except for this little mousetrap, of course.

If you can't spell Adams first name right, IMO, you shouldn't get an interview.

It's Bryan, not Brian.

In the interview, Kevin also flat out denies EVER being contacted to replace Jeff.
Not even for a one-off.
Says he would have leaped at the chance, and still would if offered.
He also suggests Journey go on tour with multiple Perry-doppelganger vocalists in case one falls ill.

Kevin is a world class vocalist, a great writer, and a nice guy (he is not above emailing his fans).
No matter what is achieved with Arnel, Kevin still remains the Herbie selected heir to the throne.

There's got to be something about Chalfant that the Journey camp doesn't like. This would have been the opportune time to bring him in, or when Augeri had to stop, but they didn't. Makes no sense, outside of the fact that Neal and Jeff were buddies at the time Augeri had to stop. But why not after they let Jeff go? He knows the catalog, and can sing it as good or better than anyone. Maybe they figured they could get off cheaper with a relatively unknown like Arnel.

I think that, as with Soto, Cain just feels threatened by prolific lyricists.
Guy doesn't want to divvy up the wealth and collaborate.

However, there are other possibilities.

1) Some say Kevin is hardheaded and a raging egotist.

2) Herbie also admitted that Steve Augeri was better looking than Kevin - so maybe superficiality comes into play.

This theory is lended even further credence if you swing by the Noticeboard right now.
Currently a bandmate of a Vegas cover band singer who auditioned to replace SA in Journey is claiming:

Neal was absolutely blown away with Geoff. Unfortunately , Geoff didn't have the right look and was a little green when it came to the big stage , hence , Neal shying away from hiring him. He auditioned for the band and I'll never forget Neal's words..

"Man , when I close my eyes Geoff sounds like Perry in his prime....maybe better , but when I open them I just can't see this guy fronting Journey".

Evidently Neal listened/watched over 60 videos of Arnel--that tells me that Neal was probably impressed by him. Maybe that's why they picked him.

Around the time of TapeGate, word broke out that Journey was looking at a singer in a Vegas-area cover band.
Andrew confirmed today on the Noticeboard that the band was in talks with this guy behind SA's back.

In any case, Geoff appears to be his name.

Indeed. Late 2004 / early 2005. Squashed as they couldn't see the guy's image being welcomed by fans. He was a little, er... rotund.

Boy I don't know this slipped by me, but TNC nails this.

Let's see,

Soto, great lyricist. Friga doesn't like him.

Perry= great lyricist, Perry and Friga are water and dirt.

Augeri- soft and weak on lyrics, Friga likey.

Is there a pattern here?

Nice work TNC.

Worse still, when pressed on the subject, Cain stated that his musical partnership with Augeri was just as bountiful as it was with Perry.
Ok.
I'm ready. The fans are ready. So where are the songs?

I didn't get Cain's wardrobe at the Chile debut concert. Fucker looked like Liberace.
