of course theres nothing behind it, just a simple show cancellation... but thats no fun, conspiracy theories are :D

Not even Journey would be so blind as to fire a singer based on one show. Must be technical stuff.

Jeremy - Suzanne, look it up!

Get over it little man.

Arnel can hit more damn notes than Jeremy can. Arnel can hit more damn notes that Augeri could. Arnel can hit more damn notes (probably) than JSS could when singing Journey.

This is just absolutely incorrect. I've been to quite a few Frontiers concerts and JeremEy has no problem hitting those notes. And anyway, it's not just about hitting the notes, but making them sound good.

Ah, MR's resident conspiracist.

No, realist. Sound problems, equipment problems, current problems, this excuse, that escuse, the other excuses have been pouring forth from this band ever since that lousy performance on the CBS Early Show.

Don't you know? This is really a cover up for the big Steve Perry come back! On second thought, I see my conspiracy is neither timely nor original. Next CS, Jonathan Cain was involved in a horrible mani/pedi accident. The cosmoltologist got a little trigger happy pushing back the barnacles.

Actually I disagree. Arnel for me has done a lot of screaming, to be honest. From a singing perspective, I believe Jeremey has more options and versatility than Arnel Pineda does. Arnel does a good job in sounding loud which is all good and well, though i've yet to hear any soulfullness or something different apart from trying hard to sound like Perry but without the Perry magic. Yes Jeremey is in a Jourmey tribute band as well.

Conspiracy theory number 3. Ross had enough, tired of being the third and fourth banana respectively he gave the guys the best revenge he could, the EDGE OF THE BLADE. AKA, the edge of his bass instrument strung where the sun don't shine.

I've heard a few vids where Jeremey has oversung as well. He sounds great on most of the tunes I've heard but he occasionally just tries to put too much into it. Happens to every singer at some point.

Bah.
It was Augeri, for chrissake. Come on.
He compromised a manhole cover and went down into the sewers with JSS who was dressed as Don Cheadle from Ocean's 11 and dropped a "pinch" on the main line for the city there.

All this 10 years after he first lept out from behind a rock with a shrub glued to his head in Hawaii and tied perry's nike tennis shoes together between hiking steps.

Well, as the resident expert on AC Electrical systems, both installed and temporary, Let me assure you that The CBS Early Show IATSE Crew member did in fact kick out the Neutral Feeder connection and cause an overvoltage situation to occur , JUST prior to our soundcheck. This caused one of Cain's HD's to lock up and there was no fixing that so close to show time among other fried components. In this case , the surge protectors did their job, sorta.

I am quite certain the crew did all they could. What is most likely is that management limited the weight and certain preventaive / redundant gear was left home, after all, what can go wrong?
I know for a fact, when i left, there was a UnInterruptable Power Supply large enough to run Ross's effects and wireless direct to the PA and Cain's rig without any noticeable change, including amplifier.
The thing weighs 380 lbs and the road case it rides in requires three people to move safely, so I can well imagine Heckle and Jeckle making them leave it in the warehouse.

But it keeps the show going when nothing else does.
I guess they forgot when we blew the main fuse while recording Radio Tracks in Detroit back in '97.

Gee, 10 short years, how soon they forget.

Come on, Craft.
Quit letting the GD facts get in the way of an agenda.

You think just because you KNOW that you can verify the facts of what perry's "sidemen" tried to cover up that foggy morn in the big apple?

Hogwash, a screw up is failing to set the intonation on a guitar, misaligning a light can, not setting the levels on a monitor mix.

First, recognize the point that most tours in foreign countries, the gear is leased for the country. Most voltage problems are, frankly, never a problem. I'd be willing to bet that 95% of the gear that Journey has down in South America wasn't trucked down there from San Francisco but rented from local sound companies.

Once we get that out of the way, the relatively small percentage of equipment that's brought down will undoubtedly have switches to adjust for incoming voltages. If you've ever seen the back of a guitar amp that has a multi-voltage primary on the power transformer, you should recognize that such a switch isn't a 'toggle switch' per se, but more like a hard-flip switch that you see on the back of a power supply of a computer PS. Such a switch is not easily flipped when moving the equipment. It would've been set once prior to the start of the tour, and never touched again.

Lets also recognize the fact that Journey already performed a few times down there...most, if not all of the equipment would have *already* been adjusted for different incoming AC.

Sorry, if you know what you're talking about, regarding the way musical equipment voltage switches work, the AC excuse appears to be nothing but bullshit.

Wrongo, dude. They pack their gear into a 40ft shipping container , and then it goes by boat to it's destination.
I stayed over in Panama 3 extra days , after everyone had left, simply because the gear had not made it's scheduled departure, and was still sitting un checked into the secure cargo area.
Every day I went and checked it out, until we sealed the container after a drug dog walked through it, and it was hauled onto a truck bed for hauling to the shipping yard.

I'll bet someone forgot and went for the wrong cable, OR a pice of gear decided it really doesn't like 50hz , no matter what the name plate says, and decided to let the magic smoke out.

Once the magic smoke comes out, electrical stuff doesn't work anymore.

Man, it helps to know that there is someone out there willing to talk truths out there and not everything is strange, gloomy or conspired as it seems. It sounds from the band's official explanation that it's completely feasible. Not everything is easily fixed especially with the added pressure of time and being so far away from home base.
