Vina Del Mar Casino Date Canceled
Category: Music

We sincerely regret that we had to cancel the Casino show on February 24th, due to unsafe conditions. Our first two shows in Chile were wonderful and we love playing for the fantastic fans in Chile. We are looking forward to coming back next year. Journey would like to thank the Promoter and their staff for all their hard work trying to make this show happen. The cancellation was not due to any problems with Journey's equipment but rather the inability of the Casino staff to provide safe power for the show. The deciding factor was when a fire broke out under the stage as a result of a transformer blowing up. Earth Wind and Fire also lost equipment the other night due to power issues. We decided to cancel rather than risk the safety of our fans. Hopefully next year the casino's power will be sorted out and we can do a show to make up for this one. Once again our sincerest apologies to the fans who were inconvenienced by these unfortunate circumstances!

Gracias para las gran memorias
Sincerely,
Neal, Ross, Jonathan, Deen and Arnel"

Probably a great idea.

With the Great White incident from a few years ago, bands can't take any risks with stuff like this.

That's great....put the power transformer UNDER the stage... great.... nice....
anyone got ANY fire extinguishers handy?

Hablamo Extinguisher?

I'll bet they're glad I'm not there... I would be cracking one liners something BAD....

Say, got any marshmallows?

Those with common sense didn't need that explanation, but it's nice to hear anyway. 8)

Bands do shows.

Managers take risks.

The riskiest thing the band does is trust a manager.

I'll keep that in mind if my band ever gets big and picks up a manager. 8)

No. The riskiest thing a band does is listen to a coked-up broad who's the guitarist's on-again, off-again girlfriend, when she's given "artistic control" of the band a la Spinal Tap, and then books you in a place called "Coyote Joe's" and swears it's a rock bar, and not a fucking country bar. So you show up dressed up in your best tight leather and boots and chains, and everyone in the place has a damned ten-gallon hat and yellow armpit-stained tee shirts that were last white during the fucking Carter Administration.

So much for the conspiracy theorists on the reasons for the cancellation. What do you folks have to say today?

Andrew has more info on the front page from Kevin Elson. Seems this could have been a very dangerous situation - glad to hear it was prevented. Kudos to the crew!

No, the riskiest thing the band can do is the 15 year old that looks 18!

Well, it is kind of early on. It took them about 10 months and great reviews before they canned Jeff. Now, if it's 2010 and they haven't "F'd" the poor guy, then he might be in for the long haul :D
