Need Computer Help!!!

Postby Carlitto H@kk » Fri Feb 29, 2008 6:21 am

Folks,
I got this really wierd problem going on with my laptop
and it is driving me crazy!!!

When posting on the net or using programs like Word,
everytime I try to type a capital "P" using the Shift Key + P,
Windows Media Player opens up instead!!! This is frustrating
the living hell out of me...

Anyone have any idea what's going on and how
to fix this annoyance???

Do you have the Quick Launch Toolbar on your laptop? If so, that could be the problem (the quick keys and all). If so, you'll need to go into add/remove progs and take it off. That'll clear that problem up. If you don't have that toolbar, I dunno. lol

Hope that helps, or someone else comes along that actually knows what they are doing.

My laptop used to do weird things whenever I was typing in email, or anything...it used to jump all over the page and delete things... until someone told me to use the Fn + F4 keys which disables the mousepad....same thing if you want to re-enable. That solved my problems but I didn't get Media Player opening. It's worth a try.

Speaking of laptops, has anybody had a bad experience with the Sony Vaio?? I got one in November 2006 and have had NOTHING but problems out of it. It has only worked about 6 months out of the whole time I have had it and has been seen by several Sony technicians and was sent back to Sony to be re-imaged. Now I am having the same old problem, it won't even boot up! I called Sony and they told me it was out of warranty so there isn't anything they can do. I told them it hasn't worked properly since day one! I guess my next step is to report the problem to the Consumer Protection Agency!

I've heard of other people having problems with the same model and am wondering if they were able to resolve the issue. I'm just totally frustrated at this point!

Yes, you can. Someone will buy it for parts. Don't throw it away.

Stop and restart Synergy. Betcha you have it running.

Synergy is screwing with your alt key - the actual keystrokes to start WMP
are Shift-Alt-P.

I am hoping to "persuade" Sony into trading it in for a NEW one that works!!! But then again, do I want another "problem" by going with Sony?

If all else fails, I will consider selling it. Anyone want to by a slightly used laptop that doesn't boot up?
