Venom Nation 2.0

"The Return: Live To Rock, Rock To Live"

As prior discussed here on the forum, I've gone back to doing Radio Shows. The first one in a long time is up, dated today, Feb 23, 2008. It clocks in at about 58 megs, and is a little over an hour long. It features Artists such as Peterik, Crue, Firehouse, Journey, and more. Also features an "open letter to Neal Schon" and my thoughts on, of all things...Gene Simmon's Sex life!

Definitely Something to check out!

Feedback and comments welcomed and appreciated!

I like how this is going. The “return” show was Venom Nation 2.0 - so naturally, the next in succession SHOULD be 2.0.1 - sure, I’m rippin basically every software writer in the free world, but that’s why it’s called a “free world”.

So…what’s next? Well - first a couple of notes on ‘what’s past”. I put Venom Nation 2.0 out on February 23. Basically six…no…seven days ago….In that time, it’s had a little of 450 hits. Now…that’s a LOT of hits for the type of show it is, and the relatively SMALL amount of “publicising” I did for it. I only put it out in the email….and on two message boards (granted…they are two well-respected boards with a LOT of members, this one included). And I went back and looked…they’re not mirroring, meaning they’re not using a download accellerator and hitting it ten times from One IP - if I counted those there’d be over 600 hits…I’m talking 450 individuals downloading the show from their individual IP address. I have no complaints with that. I’ve gotten very little feedback. Less than 30 people have sent in…and what’s scary…is of those…over 25 have sent EMAIL…now I gave the email out…so that’s not a complaint…but if you’ve found out about it on this board…I wish I could get people to not just “snag” it and not post anything….word of mouth on message boards is the way to get these things distributed. So, I could only ask if you’re getting it from this board, post back your thoughts. Hell…NEGATIVE feedback is still feedback, and and if some candidates for PRESIDENT are proof, there’s NO SUCH THING as “Bad publicity” -

Now, moving on to 2.0.1 -

I’ve sworn up and down I would not overrun listeners with monster shows. For this purpose, I’ve set myself with a two hour time limit….period. Now…if I run 2:01 on them…I’ll be disappointed I couldn’t keep my limit, but I’ll be shooting on the LONGEST shows for 1:59. And this next show will likely cap in right there at that mark.

There’s a genre of music that I’m WELL versed, (and immersed, I’d say) in that I love so much, and that's AOR. I'm sure you're all familiar with it.

I want to explore the genre. I want to cover artists you’ve never heard of, but still keep the rockin’ pace. I want to cover artists you HAVE heard of but maybe play a song you’d not heard. Artists like Journey, Dokken, Bryan Adams, Winger, and Van Halen are all very much “fair game” as much as artists like XYZ, Malmsteen, Talisman, Tall Stories, and Pride of Lions.

I want to mix it up! And I’m calling in the help of a few “trusted experts” on this board with this one. Several members here are well known for their knowledge and prowess of one artist…..and I’m getting their input as well. Its gonna take a little time to “perfect” this….and I want to make it just right…so bear with me….but I really want you guys to know it’s out there…and it’s coming…and I want you guys to offer your input on it if you can…and make suggestions…

I'll copy/paste the same thing I sent to them...find artists you like….and then tell me what song it is that really “expresses” and sums up that artist?….a thundering song…rockin out….great guitars…(try to avoid a ballad if you could)….and not really one that might be on the “Greatest Hits” album….what would you pick?

Of course, you’ll get credit with the pick on the show too…

You all probably know I have a VERY VAST library of stuff to choose from…try me. I probably have it.

I look forward to your answer…if you’d like to…-you can reply back to this post…or it’s heystoopid@mchsi.com .

Enjoy! Lookin forward to it!

Steve

Hey, great job, Steve! Look forward to the next one -- these are awesome! Here's a suggestion for a future show, and it is a power ballad, but awesome! "Too Late" by Herricane Alice -- one of my all-time favorites! Oh, and DOKKEN, too!

no - I don't profit from them - if I wanted to - I'd go back to terrestrial radio and get paid for it - but that's too much hassle. and thanks Rip...and larry...I already HAVE the entire dokken discography...and about 500 mb of rarities....

I have two albums from Hericane Alice (that's how it's spelled in my list). THey're backed up somewhere on a DVD....one is the self titled debut, the other is called "Tear Down The House" -

And as for "Paris is burning" _ I have two live versions of that too....one from 1999...and one from "Live from the sun"- but to be honest, they almost sound like the same version...same "Wild Mick Brown on the drums" intro...

I think you are right -- Hericane w/1 "r", though I've seen it written both ways. Here is the old version of "Paris" I'm talking about...

I would respectfully request, if the people doing it are the people listening from here, that you please download, not stream...I'm limited in the number of connections I can have on this server (just for the sake of not killing all my bandwidth) and streaming ties up the connection for the entire time it takes to listen....not just the three minutes it takes to download. And while they're tied up....other's can't download. Believe it or not, I've got a relatively high number limit set, and at this moment, it's pegging out on all of them (99 of them).

That's not to be an ass...that's just politely requesting that since it's a private server, that we allow others to have it too. Thanks!

Oh, and thanks for listening! I appreciate the feedback!

It shouldnt be taking that long - that's wierd - I guess what I'll have to do is start putting them on an external server - megaupload or something - I didn't ''want'' to have to do that - because it's a lot of damn trouble and a pain in the ass to wait for - but I guess I can do it

well - Whoever the people are in texas and ohio that are trying to get it (marietta and lubbock is where it says they are) are being good....whoever the idiot is in Tampa Florida that's purposely using a download accelerator on that file - and tying up 80 connections (he hit it with the accellerator 8 times, with ten times accelleration) - is now being blocked.....so maybe it will speed up -
