They both go around in circles for three hours, lots of similarities. 8)

And I'm a fan of both sports.

bwahahahahahahahahaha I about punched the poor boyo's leg off when Shithead took himself outta the race! lol Felt bad for Johnson. Baby Busch... well, I don't know what to say bout that boy. Coulda/woulda/shoulda and all that jazz.

Was good to see Edwards, Martin and Burton have good finishes. How the hell does one qualify Stewart's wreck as "viscious"? That was a mere kiss of the wall!

For you to applaud an accident like Jeff Gordon is serious derangement. To be happy for that is sick.

My God, what is wrong with you people?

So, I'm deranged. Big whoop. If you people would read without inserting items of your own liking, you'd have seen that I was happy that he took himself out of the race. I didn't say one word about being happy that he might be injured, the seriousness of the wreck or any other such nonsense. For shits sake Dean, I've been watchin this damned sport for many more years than you have. I've seen all sorts of horrendous accidents out there on those tracks. I would NEVER wish upon any of those drivers, any sort of real injury.

As for the other one chiming in..... Dude... back up the damned boat. If either of you would, say, listen to the crowd when this particular driver is taken to task (especially of his OWN doing), you'd notice that the better portion of the Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup fanbase CHEERS when he leaves the race of any accord. The difference between myself and them is.... I do not wish it upon him.

Aw fuck... I can't believe I'm actually having to explain this to people.

NASCAR SUCKS!!!!

I love ya 7W, but come on. That's the broken record anti-NASCAR drivel that most people give the sport. There's more to it than that.

Just like there's more to football than 22 guys shoving eachother, more to basketball than 10 guys bouncing and throwing a ball, more to soccer than 22 guys kicking a ball, etc.

Prog..... In reality, only 20 of them "kick" the ball. Unless you're speaking of Mexico a few years ago, with the goalie pulling unbelievable stunts by leaving his goal totally unattended to make his own run at the opposing goal.

But, your analogy is spot on otherwise!

Two words: Paul. Robinson.

Anyway, reports are saying that A.J. Allmendinger has been removed from the #84 car temporarily, and has been replaced by Mike Skinner.

I think Skinner could still be a force in Cup if given solid equipment. Dude's the best racer that's never won.

Well, the first thing that team has to do is qualify, and Skinner's the man for that. And I've always had a soft spot for him because as a teammate, he could really get under Earnhardt's skin. He did NOT like him. Makes him tops in my book. There's some others out there too, but he's definitely a candidate for being the best who never won one. He needed to think a little more and charge a little less sometimes, and he would have. I saw him have one in the bag at Atlanta one year only to blow up just before the finish.

I'd like to see Skinner do well, and I wanna see Allmendinger improve too. Allmendinger's been good for a few funny quotes and I'm sure once he develops, he could be a force. Maybe after Skinner shows A.J. some ropes, they could toss in a third Red Bull car for some races so Skinner could have a solid ride too?

Well, Skinner was in the 27 (Villeneuve's ride) at Vegas. The one thing he AND Benson (another guy I really like) have going for them is their involvement with Bill Davis and Toyota. I would think they'll both have chances at least when Cup is running companion races with the Trucks.
I do think Almendinger will come around. He's got an AWFUL lot of talent. And you're right, he can be very funny.

Too bad Skinner couldn't keep the 27 up where he qualified it, signs of hope though.

I love Johnny Benson. I almost had a heart attack watching him in the 500 a few years ago. I was rooting my hardest for him, an underdog in an unsponsored ride almost taking the prize. Nice to see him eventually win, at Rockingham right? I'm surprised he didn't do more with Rousch in the late 90s though.

Yeah, he was actually going to be "my boy" when he was with Roush. Jack kept changing crew chiefs on him though. I've had a couple of good conversations with him-long ago. He's just a SUPER nice guy. I LOVE it every time he wins a Truck race.

Bit of a trivia fact- Jack Roush was born and owns alot of property in the county next to me. I was making a delivery run last year and passed right by one of his mansions on my way. HUGE place, I could tell, and I could only see part of it through the trees.

It's really too bad that sponsorship dollars are taking over, or else guys like Johnny and Mike and Ward Burton and so on, would still be in good rides. They may be less marketable than McMurray, Bowyer, Sorenson, Regan Smith, Paul Menard, etc... but they're waaaay better drivers! Put Benson in the #26 again, have Skinner reunite with his old team in the #07, and they'd probably rack up some victories.

Something neat happened to me at Fontana. The first thing we did on Friday morning was go to the credentials trailer for our garage passes. I'm standing right behind some guy in line. I'm next to get my pass and head out, so I'm antsy, and excited. The guy in front of me is just BSing with the guy behind the counter, so I'm thinking, "c'mon, c'mon,"............lol. After a couple seconds, he turns around and looks at me. It's Jack Roush! And me with a Roush-Fenway shirt on and a DeWalt hat! lol. He looks at me, gives me a big thumbs-up, and walks out. GREAT way to start my weekend! I'm sorry, but after all these years, I still get geeked out at a race track. "A bad day at the track is better than a good day at work!"

For what it's worth, I do think JJ's got the best team going. (Kenseth says that all the time.) And obviously, the driver of any team is the biggest part. I don't know if you've ever met Jimmie, but he really is a good guy. The son-in-law of a guy I work with grew up with him, and is one of his best friends. Went to his wedding on some private island he rented for the occasion. Fireworks and the whole nine yards. So anyway, the co-worker knows Jimmie fairly well too. We have to compare JJ and Kenseth every Monday morning.

My favorite is Kenseth, with Biffle probably second. Edwards scared me off a little with his roid rage towards Kenseth last year though.

Quite the deal with his penalty huh? Knaus must be jealous! lol.

Hey, if Jimmie was a prick, but still won all the time, I wouldn't be a fan. I love the fact he is so respectful of everyone, and respects the sport and the history. he has charity funds, is well spoken, and really never whines like Gordon does. I like kenseth too and Biffle for the same reasons.

Now, we DO have a problem with Edwaeds do we not/

Blatant cheating. Docked 100 points and CC suspended 6 weeks. oooh man, JJ should have won California knowing what we now know!

So what's everybody's thoughts on the standings now, after the 2007-2008 owners points cutoff has come and passed?

All of Team Waltrip inside the Top 35, along with Vickers and Hornish.

McMurray, Blaney, Regan Smith, Kyle Petty, Dario Franchitti all on the outside looking in.

It's a safe bet to say McMurray will find himself back into the top 35 sooner or later. Blaney may too, he's a good racer but has just had some bad luck. The other three guys are screwed, though. Franchitti hasn't proven a thing and needs more seat time, Smith's pathetic and Petty hasn't had a good season since 1999. I think Petty will miss like 20 races and eventually announce his "farewell tour" for next year. Smith and Almirola will trade places: Almirola will go full-time while Smith will do the ride-sharing gig with Martin.

The 48 team is confused. I have never seen them like this. We'll see if they can do top 5 in Martinsville. He could actually win there, but somethin is amiss.

Yeah, the 48 team is really screwin' with my head here, same with Gordo. These guys are immensely talented and have the best equipment, no clue why they're struggling so much early. I have no doubt in my mind that both will end up in the Chase somehow. Haven't JJ and JG both swept Martinsville multiple times? It'd be a shock not to see them in the top 10 there if not Victory Lane.

Well, at least Hendrick still has their short track program together. My guy (17) was a pinball at Martinsville. But he readily admits that's his worst track. Bring on Texas and Phoenix! I'll be at both!

Lucky you!
But - ahhh, I wish they were all shorttracks and road courses. Make ‘em have to work for it, lol.

17 got a little revenge going, lol. who was it he sent spinning?

True, but was that not also the case when the 38 got into the 17 to start it? lol. I'm sure Gulliland didn't do it on purpose, but it was not a very smart move. I'm not proud of Matt, but after listening to him on the radio all race, I could sure understand his frustration with the day he was having. That's short track racing, I guess! lol. Thank God he normally runs great at these next two tracks. I've seen him win at both!

That 17 is a joke on short tracks. He was a pain in the ass all race. On the restarts, he would fuck up the 48 constantly. Biffle ended up spinning the 48. He is a fuck too. I hate Fords.

Don't worry, Dean. Ford Racing in NASCAR will go the way of the Pontiac within ten years. They just can't keep up with Toyota and Chevy.
