OT: Patrik Swayze Has Five Weeks to Live

Postby Barb » Thu Mar 06, 2008 5:52 am

This is so sad! What do you do when you're told you've got five weeks left to live?

http://www.transworldnews.com/NewsStory ... 9197&cat=2

Patrick Swayze, best known for his role in Dirty Dancing, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told that he has just five weeks to live.

Swayze, 55, has been sick with the disease since he was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer. The cancer has since spread to other organs and now the actor/dancer is dying.

For the past month, Swayze has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful, according to the National Enquirer.

Swayze received three treatments of chemotherapy, causing the tumor to shrink, but less than his doctors had hoped for. He was then told that he should prepare for the end.

Oh my stars!!!

Swayze is way too young for this.

Praying for peace and comfort for Mr. Swayze and his family and friends.

Thanks, Barb.

Nah. I'm never too far from here, Deanster.

I sincerely hope I am right, and that this story is just that...a story, and nothing more.

....eeerrrrrrr

goollllyyyy yep I can read too

and if ya read further ya can see that is is being run by several more mainstream newspapers ------including Chicago Sun-Times and the Toronto Star.

It has also now been reported that the cancer spread to other organs and he lost over 20 pounds in the past couple of weeks.

While, you may be correct in your "bullshit" statement, perhaps right now might be the time for peaceful respect.

Having a fatal disease is not fun. I have been dealing with one as well ( January was supposed to be my last month here). And believe me, on most days I would prefer if people would just shut up than give me their "learned" opinion about it.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Swayze and his family at this time.

Errr...every media outlet mentioning this is confirming the fact that the story originated with the Enquirer, that bastion of journalistic integrity.

There was nothing disrespectful towards Swayze in my remarks. My intent was quite the opposite, actually, as I am a fan of his work.

Sorry to hear about YOUR health issues, CatEyes. I myself suffered a small stroke (a "mini stroke," as it is referred to in the medical field) back in October, which robbed me of a large amount of the visual acuity in my left eye. And my ex, my son's mom, underwent emergency open heart surgery last Friday.

Point being that most of us are affected by medical problems, either ourselves or ones we care about.

He was great as Reagan in Point Break. "Johnny! Johnny! That knee givin you trouble again?" Utah looks up and sees fuckin Gary Busey lookin down on him and almost shits himself. Busey made a complete ass of himself on the red carpet last week at the Oscars. Kissing Jennifer Gardner on the neck as he was plastered. Man, I was embarrassed for him.

Busey's been a trainwreck for years!

But you're right, Swayze was pretty fuckin cool in Point Break.

Youngblood was great. He took Rob lowe under his wing and made him a bonafide fighter as well as a scorer. Pat had to learn to skate and actually became quite good and has played ice hockey ever since.

Remember they got Youngblood all fucked up on tequila the night before practice and Dean couldn't skate? awesome movie. The Lowe starts bangin that hot piece os ass coach's daughter. man she gave me huge wood. Nothing beats banging a hockey chick in the stadium bowels.

Wasn't it Youngblood's brother who taught him how to fight after he pussed out?
Carl Rakki was a real bad-ass in that movie too!

Don't forget the North and South mini-series. I think that was what really got him noticed.

Yeah, back on the farm in Canada he did, and so did his old man, but on the team, Swayze taught him you need more than a pretty face and good hands to make it in the NHL. Then Pat got cheapshotted and hit his dome on the ice ending his career.

Funny story about Youngblood - one of the Flyers' then-pretty boys, Peter Zezel, was an extra in the movie. Rob Lowe sat directly behind the Flyers bench at a game in L.A. and was yelling "Zez! Zez!" The Flyers coach at the time, Mike Keenan (who was a real bad ass himself) told Zezel to shut that mother fucker up.

Ah, old time hockey.

Too bad :( he's made some good films. Time to throw on Hungry Eyes in tribute. Kind of ironic that I was reading an article about Steve Jobs's secretive diagnosis/treatment for pancreatic cancer today as well. Pancreatic cancer seems to be a bitch - I didn't know how bad it was. Jobs got lucky and had a rare form of the cancer that allowed effective treatment. Hope Patrick can beat the odds.

Get the fuck out! I partied with Old Man Keenan a million times up in Vancouver, as he was doing a great job of driving that team into the ditch. Pavel Bure, Gino Oldjick, Greg Adams, Keenan and Geoff Courtnall and I got wasted drunk in Courtnalls bar. Keenan thought it was hilarious to see line brawls. He really came out of his skin when inebriated. Gotta hand it to him, he liked old time hockey.

Bodhi.
Best role of many cool ones in the Swayze cannon.

Youngblood: I love the Swayze trash talk smirk after he buries Racki with the one nasty check.
