Reminds me of both Freddie Mercury and Eric Carr, both of whom were spun by their PR campaigns as "not as bad as reported", then suddenly their deaths were announced. Oddly, both of them died the same day. I may be entirely wrong about Patrick, but I have a feeling this is what's happening.

you are correct, sir...

Never heard of a "small amount of disease"...thats like being a little bit pregnant.!!!!

I 'll pray for him to go quickly and not linger in pain...
I've been in the medical field for over 30 + years....and this disease is aweful...also had an uncle die from it.
2 months after diagnosis...

This was a pretty well written blurb about Swayze and how low tabloids will go to break a story. Apparently he's very well respected in the industry, which is really nice to hear.

That is the one I remember so well. That is when I actually got familiar with the disease. I couldn't believe how fast he went. It is brutal.

Yes, very sad news indeed. The National Enquirer is a piece of shit, but still even though it was in there, the cancer story is pretty much true from what I've read in other places. I just can't fathom what I'd do if I was told that I would have only weeks to live. All I can say is, when I make it to work every day and sit down to start my day, many co-workers of mine bitch and complain because they didn't win the gazillion dollar lottery the night before. I sit there and thank my lucky stars that I'm so lucky to be healthy, because all the money in the world can't make a person healthy if they are dying of something like this cancer.

The richest man on his death bed would give up all his fortune and wealth just to live one more day.

I don't care how cheesy this movie is, I've seen it a hundred times and if it's on tv and I also sit and watch it. Same with Point Break

Point Break's greatness is totally above reproach.

How COOL was Swayze in that flick?

never came home

Postby ohsosoto » Sat Mar 08, 2008 3:01 pm

just plain shameful to put into print.....but..... me and about 6 friends watched dirty dancing for the first time in the mid 80's before we went out on a
saturday night. none of came home.... the good news is that penicillin is still a very useful drug!! lol!!! no, really, i've been a chemo nurse for 20 years. nobody can give an exact time on when someone will die, except if it is real obvious. i've had several patients that have beat pancreatic ca, and some that have not. stanford is a great institution. all he can do is do all he can to stay on time with this regimen, do his best to stay away from sick peeps and most of all, think positive. it doesn't matter what kind of tx he gets, if he doesn't think positive, nothing will work. i would choose oncology nursing over any other kind of specialty. the lyrics to "SAY" by john mayer is right on!!!

About five years ago I used to hang out with a group of guys who were into classic American muscle cars. We all had a car of our own and a few of them had storage units where they kept their cars. Some of the guys had specific names, like Liquid Plumber is a plumber who always up at the storage working on things drunk out of his mind. The Gakster because he gets cranked out on blow and then starts beating on the drums up at the storage, Spongehead because he's a friggin dirtbag trash collector who saves completely EVERYTHING he comes across. So one of the things we'd do is go up to the storage and bbq, shoot the shit with our cars and hang out until 2am. During that time, there was some Chinese woman in her 60's who'd come up there and pack stuff in her storage unit. I got to talking with her one day, hoping she had a cute daughter she could introduce me to.

So I'm bsing with her and soon I find out that this woman is sick in the head. I'm pretty sure it wasn't drugs, just some serious mental problems. So she's telling me about some weird anti government thing and the liquid plumber comes over to us to see what we are talking about. So this woman asks the liquid plumber what he does for a living, and he says he's a plumber. So she tells him that Patrick Swayze has been working on her home's pipes for a number of months, because according to her, Swayze's taken up plumbing. So I look away trying not to laugh at her but I hear liquid plumber say "Really.....I didn't know Swayze was up around here doing work...wow, that's news to me" as though he's believing her. She then says that Swayze's got a twin brother and every day after Swayze's completed a specific amount of plumbing work to her home, his twin brother comes sometime in the middle of the night and busts up all the work Patrick did during that day. So Swayze has to continuously come back to her home to fix it back.

So I wonder what this wacko woman is saying now about Patrick Swayze. Whatever it is, it's probably really good.

Sorry :( I guess it's only funny to me because I can look back and remember it, must be one of those "had to be there" moments. Plus I wrote it right after looking at that "The way not to offload a dozer" thread. I was sort of depressed after that, so I thought of something to cheer me up, which was the Chinese woman and her Patrick the plumber and his secret twin brother story.
