This song would be the same if your lover from Frontiers was singing in it. You would like this song if it was him. Great song.

Oh my god. A G-Em-C-D chord progression? Clearly only Be Good To Yourself is allowed to contain this progression, it's not "common" at all. The song rocks. I don't see how some of you naysayers can bemoan the presence of anything but Perry and then shit your pants when it allegedly sounds just like a great song from the Perry era.

Of course Journey is going to sound like the "same old" Journey, they aren't a prog group (not since Perry joined at least). What did you expect? Death metal growling and detuned guitars? This isn't Opeth, you don't get an album full of acoustic dirges, an album of metal, an album of 70s prog one after another, you get the Journey melodic sound. Why that's a bad thing to people who are fans, I don't understand. Everyone sounds great on these cuts, tho Neal's lead tone is still a bit compressed for my tastes, but hey, that man knows how to craft a fuckin lead. Can't wait for this album and to see this line-up.

So...one performance of a song that sounds borderline AT BEST like Be Good To Yourself proves that they are going to "sound like the same old shit"? Yeah, okay, I'm upset too that Journey apparently isn't going to sound like Insane Clown Posse with this release. What the hell is Journey music supposed to sound like???

Every Journey album from the self-titled debut through Generations, has been at least slightly different from the one before it. Journey's always gone through a constant change, an exploration of the members' various moods, ideas, and ambitions.

Most people that want Journey to "take a new direction" (I'm one of them), aren't necessarily looking for anything extreme. I don't want to see Friga on the turntables while Ross freestyles mad rhymes, and I don't want to hear Neal busting out his meatiest down-tuned grunge riffs. I just want to see them explore a different tone or mood from before, some varied song structures and arrangements, to keep the whole shebang feeling fresh like it always has with every new album.....

....WHILE maintaining the signature Journey "feel." Every album, again, from the self-titled to Generations, has had a Journey "feel." With Ross, Cain, and Neal all aboard plus Deen's skin-pounding and Arnel's good vocals, I don't expect anything less than a good album dripping with Journey goodness.

You're exactly right. And I'm right there with you. I was just amazed that some people are so concerned that one part of a new song might resemble Be Good To Yourself. That's just part of the Journey "feel". Journey should sound like Journey. Gee, there's a concept. They can (and should) explore a new direction, but it would be a huge mistake to abandon the Journey sound. And they know that. From what I hear so far, this album has the chance to be a good one.

Really tho, you need to try and think. I know it's hard for you, but dude, Jeremey is NOT the lead singer. I saw Pineda Saturday night in front of 8,000 strong. Jeremey couldn't pull off what he did. That is simply the facts.

I dont agree he could have done it and sung Mother Father without breakin a sweat, and prononced the words, and the correct band members name to the insrument they play. i thing they sucked from what I saw. I am glad the fans had a good time, and enjoyed it. Im just not into what Journey is now.

Haha! I was waiting for someone to say "Oh, well, Deen did Mother Father, so Arnel must not be able to handle it"- WRONG.
If the dude can sing Alone by Heart, in the original key, Mother Father would be child's play for him. Seriously. You're letting your allegiance to Jeremey cloud everything else. come on steve, you cannot be serious...

Ease up on stevew. There are two sides now. The Journey side and the hater side.

I really wish Frontiers would install a message board so these folks could go fawn and make ridiculous statements about how bad Arnel is and how great Hunsicker is. There really is no reason for Sherrie, stevew or the other fawners to be here. It's comical to see though. Hatred, jealousy, envy. It's tearing you apart , and it's fun to watch.

Are you being a snob about what Frontiers will or won't cover of Journey's music; they only COVER music that is on the radio?? This is so illogical that I can hardly understand what you are saying...

Oh Jesus Christ all mighty. What happens when new material is usually put out at a concert? People head to the pissers. Not this time. Every new song they played, people were dancing around pumping their fists, esp on this particular song. What's wrong about it? It's catchy, it's powerful, it's sway-ful, it's vocal-ful and it's rock-full. Oh that's right, it sounds like one of their older songs. How dare Journey sound like Journey. I was rooting for the lines of them coming out sounding like Eminem. Dissapointed in them, I really am.

Journey is back. Sucks to be whoever doesn't want to give this lineup a chance.

Imagine Friga wearing a white wifebeater with his jeans belted around his thighs with his boxers jacked up, with "stunna shades" and one of those flat-brimmed sideways hats with the sticker on it, jiving onto the stage with a boombox on his shoulder... Neal behind a turntable providing some "wicka-wicka-woo" sounds, wearing a clock around his neck, while Ross spits some stoop nasty rhymes....

Instead of Neal coming out with his National Anthem (which he didn't play, I was pissed) He can come out and break dance for a little to start things off...sagged pants and all. That would be entertaining..talk about selling out arena's?

Seriously!
A key is specific to a voice.
Being able to sing in a specific key
does not make for a great voice.
Each voice resonates to its own key
Nothing wrong with a singer
using the key his god given voice
resonates too....

I was told even a great singer
will sound off when singing in a range not in there key.
So I don't feel too bad!
That's what makes the song special
The natural one of a kind nuances
that belong to the singer that set him or her apart from the rest
