Anyway You Want It and Only The Young--Good Quality

Okay, I answered my own question re: how the other guys looked during playing: they look HAPPY! Here is a vid with Neal actually running from one end of the stage to the other, LOL:

VERY good performances...

Arnel Pineda is the TRUTH.

And Neal Schon is the best guitar player touring today!

Someone somewhere declared that Arnel is fake on stage, WTF? Are they so shackled by their own opinions now they are blind? By the way, Dean, I am going to guess that your new garb has something to do with Easter?

Haha, it's close man... I've been watching some BA live clips lately and Keith Scott can slay on the guitar...

All I can say is that he sounds much more like Perry than Augeri or JSS did.

I wouldn't go that far. I have friends here that don't like him, and I respect their opinion even though I like him. Our Journey roots go back much farther than Arnel.

Amazing. Definately the right man for the job and as a expected a vast improvement over his first show in Chile. Thanks for posting the link.

Journey finally found Perry's proper successor. Perfect voice to tour the hits and he does them justice. Glad to see he's finding his comfort on stage too!

Now I just hope the new material rises to the level of quality we come to expect from the band called Journey. I've decided to wait for studio versions before drawing an overall conclusion.

Hey, it's their loss. Arnel is kicking ass right now. It's only 4 gigs in, but things look good so far...

As much as I love/miss Perry and Soto to pieces..........you would have to be pretty deaf or close-minded to not think that sounds damn good!

I said after the Chile shows that I wanted to wait
15-20 shows in or hear the new album to make
my own personal opinion but, after hearing
all the Vegas clips, I am getting more impressed each time.
Even though the quality is low on most clips, Arnel does
sound pretty good; I can still hear the accent but it
gets less and less annoying w/each listen.

Now here's a thought.
Since the Augeri-Era Vegas DVD has been released,
the band, and especially Augeri, has gotten a lot
of flack for that "performance" being greatly enhanced
with studio magic prior to it's release.

With Youtube and today's technology, we are all hearing/seeing
the band's first big performances w/ Arnel in "realtime" and "raw"...

Do you think the band will take the chance of using that same
studio magic on this upcoming DVD release, with a chance that many of
us will notice it right away, with some folks crying foul, or will
they leave it pretty much alone (no overdubbing vox, guitars, keys)
and release it in it's entirely with some good mastering/editting???

I hope not.
If the band feels that Arnel is the real deal, give us the raw
and uneditted/enhanced experience.

Just a thought I had...

Yes they will and they should. They're creating a product to support their new lineup and they need to put out the best quality product they can. The number of folks who will cry fowl barely number in the double digits whereas they're hoping to sell six digit units.

What do you think They will and Should do?
I didn't understand your opinion.
Should they overproduce/overdub the DVD release
or leave it in it's somewhat "raw" format?

Sorry, I thought my follow up sentence would have clarified that. Yes they will and they should... tweak it in post to perfect the sound for the reasons I mentioned above. Like I said, they're creating a product. What we DON'T want to see/hear is that very same tweaked DVD audio recording being piped in over future "live" shows (ala tapegate).

I was one of the worst naysayers of them all....I went so far as to call Neal Schon delusional, and call Pineda "The 40 pound Phillipino Runt" - and I've more or less had to eat both comments forcefully....because, as God is my witness, the guy can sing...and I'll agree with the statement that he's closer to Perry than Augeri.....but I don't think it's fair to compare him to JSS - JSS wasn't trying to be Steve Perry...

If he continues to get a little better every 2 or 3 shows he could be scary good this summer. 8)

I won't almost say it - I will say it. I could hardly pick up on any diction issues. There were a few parts from the Vina del Mar show where I thought to myself that his accent might be harder to overlook than I thought it would be. But not any more.

I think so too. I think he will continue to improve on that. To be fair, he's only been in the Journey camp for a few months, and has had to record a new album, rerecord the classics, learn much more of the back catalog and then have time to work on his diction. He's been working his ass off.

By the end of the summer, Heart and Cheap Trick might be doing a joint 45 minute set, getting out of the way and taking a seat in the pavillion to watch Journey's set.
