After all these years-great version

Postby Majestic » Tue Mar 11, 2008 1:51 pm

Found a really great youtube of After all these years:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Gl9-aAiqNQ

I know that everyone wants Journey to R O C K (me too), but I think this song has got the wow factor! All the right pieces in place. Great vocals, musicianship, and songmanship. 8)

Yeah, this song has potential to be big. Arnel really sings the hell out of this song.

This is the first ballad since When You Love A Woman that has stuck in my head for so many days. Beautiful melody and Neal's guitar sounds like it's singing again. 8)

Yep. I also love how it starts off with a simple piano and guitar duet. Sets the tone really well.

I noticed a few people tearing up/crying during that song. It just has that beautiful quality about it. I'm fucking amped. I want that album released before June.

Why are all the vids from way back? No one up close had a cam?

What makes this song is Neal's solos otherwise it could falter as a latter day REO or Meatloaf ballad.

In this clip, Pineda sounds more like Jimi Jamison than Perry. I guess that's a good thing, eh?

I hear what you're saying, but you were able to hear the words easily and audibly at the show. The lyrics are really good. A bit "chickish" but the song is a ballad.

PS Love your avatar.

Thanks for finding the better quality clip...but, even on the other clip with all the background noise one could "feel" this song. I must say I am loving this one & can't get it out of my head. It definitely has that certain touching quality & AP sings it wonderfully.

Dude, I was sitting in 4th row, in the Gold section, basically 5 feet from Neal, and the security guys were REAL pricks about photography. I even tried to get a shot of the stage before the concert even started and got yelled at and warned that my next time would be an ejection! But I did tape Faithfully, although the video quality isnt the best since I had to be discreet, but I'll try to post it soon. Just got back in town an hour ago.

I'm jealous of all these folks that went. I was the big talker a few months ago about going to a show. True, its not exactly near me and I had other things going on. Those things fizzled out and Saturday I was kickin myself for not just cancelling everything and going.

Anyway, appreciate the info. I'd guessed that's what happened with the DVD tapin and all. Look forward to your clip when/if you get a chance to post it.

This is a VERY radio-friendly song. It's the best post-Perry Journey track I've heard, yet! Neal is still the only guy I've ever heard weave his great guitar work into a ballad!Unfortunately, even though this song has "commercial" written all over it, I don't think we're seeing a Journey, sans Perry, getting played on our local radio stations!

I seem to be in the minority here. I'll admit, the clip isn't high enough quality for me to base a final opinion on, but that being said, I hope the rest of the new stuff is better than that crap. From what I have heard of it, After All These Years just sounds like another tired cliche of a rock ballad.

Bear in mind, my least favorite songs by Journey are With Your Love and Why Can't this Night Go on Forever. This song seems way too close to those IMO, and far less inspired than classics like Faithfully, Send Her My Love, and Open Arms.

"With Your Love" was my wedding song, so I can't kill it. As for "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever"...I think it's one of Journey's best ballads, EVER! Perry's vocals at the end of that song are astonishing!

"Faithfully" is the greatest ballad, EVER recorded, by ANYONE, IMO! There is nothing "classic" about "Open Arms". The song is soul-less and is one of the worst ballads I've EVER heard! Absolute DREADFUL track!

i dont get it either.. the 3 new songs dont do much for me, at this point anyway.. im glad Hunsicker got a writing credit though..that alone is beyond cool..

GREAT playing and
singing.. but its not my thing..

it sorta makes me understand why JSS isnt there.. ... i just cant imagine him singing this.. well .. this legacy sounding song anyway... :? ..

if i would have seen it live then i might feel differntly .. not sure .. "right now i just want to hang with your daughter."-lloyd dobler... 8)
