Never Walk Away

Here is a good video, sounds clean.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz35vm7wZcA

I would simply make this video from Vegas a video and send it to VH1, a month prior to the CD release. This song is very good. Harmonies abound, great guitar, you name it. it will be cheap to make, as it is already filmed.

Thoughts?

VH-1 classic look eh?

Postby ttango1 » Wed Mar 12, 2008 8:10 am

I LIKE IT! It brings me back to a time when videos were really just concert footage. None of that added wind blowing, and chicks dancing in the background. Actually, the chicks they showed on those types of videos were normally sitting on someone's shoulders and then FLASH...even more than my avatar.

DANG- NICE Tele Cain! Sounds like Neal got some of his tone back too.

HOWEVER, I bet VH1 will ignore them without Perry.

VH1 was a sponsor of the last tour with DL, were they not?

VH-1 pimped the hell out of that exceptional Shaw-Blades release. They'll get on board for this one, too.

Personally I am tired of all the performance videos. Higher Place, All The Way and Faith In The HEartland were all simply performance videos. And ALL the video other than the Frontiers ones were performance. (The Frontiers ones were just bad...) WYLAW was certainly the best video Journey has made...and it is still a performance video, just not live. I would like to see something similar...or throw out the mold and do something completely breakthrough. To be honest, I think I would actually be more excited by a 2nd Life version of a performance video than just footage from the concert...

And blessings upon you because you know as well as I do that JSS is/was a fan, has CLEARLY moved on and would not begrudge you that. I'd be damn surprised if he let his admiration for their music be clouded by having been lead singer.
I'd be even more surprised if he was so insecure as to not want his fans to also still be Journey fans.
Dude is pretty fuckin philosophical and level-headed enough to be laid back about it. He has not publicly bitched at all.

Dave, it has long been SOP for Journey to NOT do conceptual videos. Perhaps they aren't attractive enough or maybe they want the cameras to focus on their ability to play as well as they do. If they go cencept here, I would guess Arnel would be the player/ focal point. I can picture the whole thing now.........

AP meets old flame on streets in Manila...small talk, she asks him what he is doing now..he says, I am in a band, just trying to survive. Then a week later, AP is sitting in Phillipino coffee house, reading the Hockey News, and Perry led DSB playing overhead...AP sees ex -girlfriend sitting across cafe and starts to imagine being with her, and all that shit...for about 30 seconds or so....the camera then focuses on Pineda's eyeball and blurrs as it travels through it and then after traversing his eyeball, the next scene is the live gig singing Never Walk Away, with the hot girl in the audience. Editing in some shots of AP seeing hot chick in crowd, and they make eye contact, all the while crowd loving this song. Song ends, AP, and girl walk out of arena together.

Conclusion: She is a money grubbing whore and as they are about to cross the street, a speeding bus, with a drunk driver nails her and she impales her money thieving ass into the Bus' grill. AP turns around and smiles, and says, "She had her chance and she blew it."

They need to get hold of Wayne Isham again. That guy is the king of all performance videos in the last 20 years, IMO.

I feel the opposite of you Dave, give me a video of a band doing what they do best over a concept video any day. :)

Or maybe they HAVE thought of going the conceptual route in the past few years
w/ songs like Higher Place, All the Way, FITH but, everytime they approached a director,
He/She would sit them down in front of a TV, show them the videos for
Separate Ways and After the Fall and simply say, "You guys have GOT to be kidding???
How about we do a nice, rockin' performance piece instead???"

Me too. As good as some of the Youtubes sound, it'll be 10 times better in the studio.
