The Hell he didn't. He looked like a fool his last 4 years. Iverson undressing him with the crossover, MJ falling over himself in Charlotte gear...he did not go out at the top of his game.

Gretzky sure as Hell did. Perry did. Favre did.

I'm not a big fan of this "going out on top" stuff. I'd rather a player play until they've given everything they have. Then again, people like Rickey Henderson, who should've retired years ago just keep trying to come back and embarrass themselves.

Hey I think Favre had a fantastic final season, but there were a few seasons prior to that one where he was definitely not on top of his game. Michael Jordan should have never come out of retirement as evidenced by his final seasons. I'd imagine it's hard (not impossible mind you) to accept that your moment in the sun is over and you need to step aside. Much easier to say than to do.

If this is being a woman. Every father in America should hope their son becomes such a woman.

Brett Favre Honors and Awards

Favre has won the Associated Press's MVP Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award three times, all in consecutive years (1995, 1996, and 1997; the last shared with Barry Sanders).

In 1999, he was ranked number 82 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players. In 2005, TSN published another special feature honoring the 50 Greatest Quarterbacks. With his career statistics considerably augmented, Favre was ranked number 4, behind Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana and John Elway, and just ahead of previous Packer quarterback legend Bart Starr.

Favre was named the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year in 2007.

Favre has been selected to play in the Pro Bowl nine times in his career.

Favre is a six-time All-Pro selection.

Favre was named to the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team.

Has received the NFC Offensive Player of the Week honor 12 times.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle declared November 29, 2004 as Brett Favre Day to honor Favre's 200th consecutive NFL regular season start. That night, the Packers defeated the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football.

Men's Health Magazine voted Favre the "Toughest Person in America" in 2003.

Chris Greicius Celebrity Award from the Make a Wish Foundation in 2007 for "being a true standout, even among the many generous celebrities who help create magical experiences for the kids who wish to meet them."
United States Sports Academy Male Athlete of the Year Award in 2007 finishing ahead of Tiger Woods and Tom Brady

Brett Favre Records and Milestones

Most AP NFL MVP awards: 3 (1995, 1996, 1997)

Most consecutive starts by a quarterback (NFL): 253 (275 including playoffs)

Most wins by a starting quarterback (NFL) regular season career: 160 (Regular season record: 160-93)

Most career passing touchdowns: 442

Most career passing yards: 61,655

Most career pass completions: 5,377

Most career pass attempts: 8,758

Most career interceptions thrown: 288

Most career games with at least three touchdowns: 63

Favre's 253 consecutive starts at the time of his retirement trailed only Jim Marshall's 270 consecutive starts as the longest such streak among players at any position.

In the playoffs, Favre stands behind only Joe Montana in pass completions, passing touchdowns, passing yards and passing attempts.

In addition, Favre owns a number of team records, having printed his name into almost every passing category in the annals of Green Bay Packers history, most recently setting the team record for consecutive completions with 20 on November 22, 2007, against the Detroit Lions. [22] With 38 "come-from-behind" 4th quarter wins & 2 more overtime victories, Brett Favre is the Green Bay Packers record holder and second only to John Elway's 47 4th quarter or OT "come-back wins", in NFL history

The Brett Favre Fourward Foundation
He started the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation to provide aid to disadvantaged and disabled children in Wisconsin and Mississippi. In 8 years, we've donated over $1.5 million and touched the lives of thousands of terrific kids.

The 'Brett Favre Fourward Foundation' was established in 1996. Over the past eight years, in conjunction with his annual golf tournament, celebrity softball game and fundraising dinners, the foundation has donated in excess of $1.5 million to charities in his home state of Mississippi as well as to those in his adopted state of Wisconsin.

Laura Ingrams issue with farve actually MIGHT reflect her problems with men.
She actually is unmarried and never has been , despite the fact shes not bad looking and extremely intelligent. Most men would want to reproduce with a woman like that !

It MIGHT because she cant relate to men. Maybe its because she expects them to never show weakness , never cry. standards , unrealistic ones. Real men can't live up to these standards (Shit I cry like a river after one f*cking can of Old Milwaukee and a slow hair metal tune- and I am full of testosterone!!)

Shes just transferring her personal issues on to poor Brett Farve.

I could be wrong here of course, and I actually like and agree with Laura I most of the time.

BY as a native Minnesotan and as a Vikings fan, I respect that guy immensely, though I hate his team!

I think you are referring to "Penis Envy"????? I've never believed in that theory...but Ole Laura is making me rethink this!!!

I don't believe that describes 'penis envy' at all. It's more indicative of Misandry, as popularized by the radical feminist movement of the last century.
From Wikipedia's page :
[q]For girls:

Soon after the libidinal shift to the penis, the child develops her first sexual impulses towards her mother.
The girl realizes that she is physically not equipped to have a sexual relationship with her mother, as she has a clitoris, labia and vagina, rather than a penis.
She desires a penis, and the power that it represents. This is described as penis envy. She sees the solution as obtaining her father’s penis.
She develops a sexual desire for her father.
The girl blames her mother for her apparent castration (what she sees as punishment by the mother for being attracted to the father) assisting a shift in the focus of her sexual impulses from her mother to her father.
Sexual desire for her father leads to the desire to replace and eliminate her mother.
The girl identifies with her mother so that she might learn to mimic her, and thus replace her.
The child anticipates that both aforementioned desires will incur punishment (by the principle of lex talionis)
The girl employs the defence mechanism of displacement to shift the object of her sexual desires from her father to men in general.
The offshoot of these events, often cited in the media and colloquially, is that a girl really wants to become her mother, so that she can control her father.

A similar process occurs in boys of the same age as they pass through the phallic stage of development. The key differences being that the focus of sexual impulses need not switch from mother to father, and that the fear of castration (castration anxiety) remains. The boy desires his mother, and identifies with his father, whom he sees as having the object of his sexual impulses. Furthermore, the boy’s father, being the powerful aggressor of the family unit, is sufficiently menacing that the boy employs the defence mechanism of displacement to shift the object of his sexual desires from his mother to women in general.

Freud thought this series of events occurred prior to the development of a wider sense of sexual identity, and was required for an individual to continue to enter into his or her gender role.

While fashionable for a number of decades, the concept of penis envy is no longer regarded as a serious one by most psychoanalysts.[/b]

Look at it the way world reknowned physiciatrist Lucy Van Pelt might. Laura Ingraham does not have a bubble gum card. How can you say anyone is famous if they have never been on a bubble gum card? On the other hand, Brett Favre... many bubble gum cards.

#1. Who is the final arbiter of when one has given 'everything the have' if not oneself ? Especially in professional Sports... ok, maybe their Physician, but that's about as far as it goes.
#2. If you wouldn't want it for yourself, how can you ask anyone else to do it ?
#3. When someone else decides your RETIREMENT DATE, it's called being "let go" at best or being "FIRED" at worst.
NOT THE SAME THING !!!

The Ricky Hendersons are why it's called ENTERTAINMENT, and is not to be taken seriously.

ANYONE that attaches any serious social significance to these people are asking for disappointment.
