Not sure where she was "storing" her brother for 11 years. Funny how you can't bring liquid soaps on a plane, but human remains are a-ok

"Airport security spotted the skull and bones when the suitcase was put through the x-ray machine," police spokesman Christian Maier said.

Wonder why they didn't just bury him in Italy when he died?

Anyway, skull and bones reminded me of:

I just flew to NM a few weeks ago, and on the way home they found my jar of green chile peppers. Pulled me aside and searched me because of that jar, then took it away from me. :?

And these women were allowed to fly with BONES?

My ex-wife had her bag rummaged through by security when we went to Boston for vacation, and they took out a couple of "battery powered devices". Of course I pretended to be horrified, but it was actually pretty funny.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Nah, she carried them around in case of "emergencies". Let's just say she wasn't shy, and leave it at that.

Jesus 7...I'll still trying to figure out how and why this woman is your "ex-wife"! Sounds like the perfect woman to me. I can't say that I ever dated a woman who ever had those types of "emergenices"

The mother in law of one of my supervisors at work died. She was cremated and wanted her ashes spread somewhere in Europe. They packed her in a suitcase (I can't believe they wouldn't put her in a carry on!!). So of course the airlines lost her luggage....and lost grandma!!! Luckily the suitcase was found and she was scattered like she wanted but I thought it was a funny story!!

Lol, oh dear. As long as their wasn't any strong winds blowing at the time her remains were scattered, its never nice getting sand in the eye let alone ashes

Well, she was a swell girl, other than the rampant drug abuse, alcoholism, verbal abuse, and infidelity. That and the fact that a lot of the infidelity occurred after my lymphoma diagnosis.

As someone who hops on a plane more than once every week, I'm always amazed that in 2008 people don't know what they can't carry on a plane. It's annoying. In the post-9/11 world, you'd think someone would do even an ounce of research.

I would hate to be a chick though and have to abide by the 3-1-1 rule and have liquid makeup, etc. Being a guy it's much easier.

I'm talking the general case ... not this specific instance with ashes. It doesn't help that TSA from airport to airport can be inconsistent. American (Terminal B) at Logan is pretty good; I've never had problems (knock on wood).

Ashes are not a liquid and you're allowed, for example, to take body powder (i.e. Johnson's Baby Powder) on with no hassles.

And from http://thehague.usembassy.gov/u2.s._customs.html#ashes:
9. Ashes of Deceased People

You can legally transport ashes of a deceased person into the U.S., if you meet the following conditions:
The ashes should be transported in a non-metallic urn
One should bring an International Death Certificate
One should bring and International Cremation Certificate
The ashes should be carried with your hand luggage
The urn can be subject to inspection, and it is recommended to come early to the airport.

So I would assume same rules apply domestically as well - as long as you have the death certificate ...

If you actually read the article, it wasn't ashes they were carrying. It said "human remains", and stated that security had seen the skull and bones in their suitcase! That's a bit different than ashes, to me!
