Top 5 "Good, But Never Did A Thing For Me" Bands

I never did get the whole Metallica thing. I cringe whenever I hear it, and if possible, turn it off. The emotion of Metallica comes across as pure anger and rage to me. All thrash metal comes across that way to me and has no appeal whatsoever. I prefer melodic rock.

Yes: boring
Asia: boring
Duran Duran: I never understood their popularity.
Thinking of Duran Duran just made me think about Kajagoogoo. I was introduced to them one summer in England by my cousin who loved them. They were huge there for a year or two. I was grateful that they were not popular in the US, then I started seeing them on MTV a few months later. Horrible. Now I'm going to have to listen to some good music all day to help me forget about them again.

I think it's safe to say your top 5 shit bands have one thing in common: Euros.

True... which is surprising since I'm half English and half Italian, and I spent quite a few summers in England as a kid.

Has anyone mentioned Wham! yet? God they sucked. Or how about the Stray Cats? Barf! That shit used to make me nauseous.

Once again, this thread is about bands you RESPECT, but just never got into. NOTHING about them "sucking".

You don't even have RESPECT for what that band came up with? ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING? Get off the Internet. There probably wouldn't even be a Journey if not for the Beatles. You don't have to like their music, but at LEAST recognize their contribution to rock.

getting back on track...maybe?
1)REM (post "Fables of the Reconstruction")...that song "Everybody Hurts" makes me want to hang up.
2)Allman Brothers...sorta kinda suck...
3)Dylan...respect the lyrics, but he should have sold that shit to someone who could sing through their mouth and not their nostrils.
4)Sting...saw him at a large Amnesty fest concert in 1988 with many other bands and he literally put me to sleep...my buddies were laughing their asses off at me for that one...then again that good Canadian black hash might of had something to do with it. The last time I ever did any illegal drugs by the way... shoot me for being honest.
5)Aerosmith...same sentiments as T-Bone.

U2 - so worthy. So tedious. To me, it just sounds like the same song over and over again.
Rush - I know they're great musicians. I simply can't make any connection with their music.
Genesis - They were so huge in the 70s and 80s. I never got it. Still don't. Same goes for Collins solo.
Police/Sting - see comment on U2!
Queen - always seemed too "staged" and too self-conscious to me.

Bubbling under ....

Rolling Stones - a couple of tracks stand out maybe, but like John, I was never convinced that they were all that good! I like Gimme Shelter and that's about it.
JSS - yes, I'm hiding behind the sofa now, but I have tried to get into his work and it's just not happening. Maybe he's too much of a vocal chameleon, I'm not sure.
Heart - I was never entertained by Heart, and hated the sugary Diane Warren stuff they churned out in the 80s.

Saint John wrote:My 5:

The Beatles- Nothing more than souped up elevator music. Great harmonies and nothing more. Musically redundant.

Led Zep- Just a bunch of noise centered around some good guitars, a great drummer and an awful singer. Great music to replace water-boarding yet maintain an equal amount of torture.

Rush- Talk about a singer that makes suicide seem like a rational thing. 10 minutes of these guys and I'm looking for a tall building or a sharp object. Great drummer, though.

Aerosmith- Liked a few of their 80's hits, but that's about it. Hard to like a band when the lead singer looks like the lost Jackson. He and Michael could've collaborated and made "Love In An Oxygen Chamber" a big hit!!!

Nirvana- A bunch of strung out weirdos from Seattle that revolutionized music...for the worst. Talk about garbage. I'm quite certain Cobain was sober and heard his music for the first time in a non-induced state right before he shoved that shotgun in his mouth. He was about 4 years too late.

For the love of god,I'm rolling!

 Honestly,I hate Nirvana,The stones,Bruce Springsteen(The Boss,of suck).. I would take the Beetles out and and I know I'm gonna get it for this, but U2.. Oh and add Motley Crue..

I guess it's an acquired taste. I love Geddy Lee.

Rush I get people respecting what they do, but not really liking. They're not a band you can kinda be into - you like 'em or you don't. Having been in a Rush tribute band for 5 years, it's definitely not something you can convince people to like, either. Fun stuff to play, though, if you're into it.
