First impressions are crucial. Warrant's first impressions on me were "Down Boys", "Cherry Pie" and that ballad ("Heaven"?).
All horrible songs.

My first impressions of Winger were (don't know for sure if these titles are correct), "Headed for a Heartbreak" and "Seventeen".
My reaction...

To this day, when I hear that opening keyboard riff to "The Final Countdown", I get nauseous.
They fell into the same rut that many bands did who let their labels direct their careers -- the labels pushed them into songs like that, and their much, much better stuff is nothing you've heard on the radio. Same with Warrant -- really a very talented group of guys with a killer songwriter in Jani Lane. But I literally wrote them off as talentless cheese the first time I ever heard "Down Boys".
I'll tell ya a band that barely got any notice, but really put out some awesome stuff -- TUFF. I totally figured them for Poison clones before I got their first album, but that and especially the 2nd album are excellent rockers. And their home videos are some of the funniest, craziest things I've ever seen. The pranks are off the charts!!! You couldn't PAY me enough to share a hotel room or a tour bus with those dudes...

LOL! Sweet! Do share some! On one of these videos, I remember people taking dumps in bathtubs, and taking a crap in a styrofoam cup and hiding it in an air vent in the tour bus.... LOL! There was another hilarious scene of some female fan trying to talk Stevie into kissing her, and he says, "Well, I don't just kiss anyone..... but I might let you blow me!"

Here's a rare promo pic with him in it - he's in the middle:

Didn't they colorize Kip Winger's eyes blue in that video? How could you resist that?

Funny Winger story. A friend of mine knew this girl who dated Kip Winger back in the day (before his "rockstar" status). Well, as the story goes this girls grandmother was hospitalized for one reason or another and the girl brought Kip along when she went to the hospital for a visit.
They hadn't been dating long, so this was the first time the girls family were meeting Mr. Winger.
Upon proudly introducing her new boyfriend, this girls grandma looks up from her hospital bed and exclaims;
"Kip Winger?! What the hell kind of name is that? It sounds like a damn tennis shoe!"
