Lol!!! So true! And I have personally asked all of my married friends exactly what is the point in the whole 'marriage' thing. I just don't get it. Why do people feel the need to legally bind themselves to someone else? Can someone explain to me the endgame? Seriously, tax breaks? To get away from home? Because you have a personal vendetta against good sex? ...Honestly, what is it? :?:

Debbie and I got married so she could fly free.

what airlines?

I prefer Hawaiian Grass Airlines

Single has nothing to do with it, Wicky Dicky and the Zipper Tricky. I like having a dude around to do the 'chores'... heavy lifting, talking to the mechanic, etc. You guys come in real handy at Target. :D

Target is my favorite store, they get half my paycheck, watch the isle ends for clearance items. Sounds like you should hang out with chippendale dancers, most of them are gay but not afraid to lift things and don't want marriage.

Hey tom, shouldn't you be working? it's not a half a day today or anything ......................

anyway back to the thread, I bet that old lady still kicks the shit out of the old guy, in fact ;looking at his face in photo it looks like he has a broom handle broke off up his ass.
somebody should report her................................

I love it... I literally just got off the phone with my friend and I cooed, "Heyyy... do you like Target...?"
-"Hell yea. Why?"
"Will you go with me next weekend? I need some help. I'll buy you a slurpee."
-"Ooh, a date at Target... huh?"
"No, I just need you to lift and load a few things."

Not really. Marriage isn't a horrendous thing, and can be a VERY good thing. My theory on marriage has always been that the vast majority of people simply marry the wrong person and know this the day they're exchanging vows! I was personally never in much of a hurry to get married (I was almost 34 when I got married back in 2004). My wife is a great girl, who laughs at all of my jokes, and gave me the most adorable little boy the planet has ever seen, so I can't complain

Now, as far as Rhi's point about being tied down and eating the same dinner over, and over, and over...All I can say is that if you marry the right person, the possibilities are endless

Couldn't agree more. I was 32 when I got married, and I knew that it was to the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with - no doubt.

In five years of asking, that was one of the best answers. Most people do get married for the wrong reasons. I have almost done that myself, though whether it was a mistake or not remains to be seen. Truth is, I prefer to look at it cynically because it allows me to take life less serious. Now, to WIX's point, I bet that old woman beats him with her house shoe and tells him what a "failure" he is and "be a man". Old hag. 83 years... are you serious??

I understand what you're saying about cynicism as a defense - just don't let it become a cage, if I may so humbly offer my two cents... :)

Very good point. And I take all the advice I can find, good or bad. Whether I apply it or not is a totally different thing.

I personally don't believe that anyone under the age of 25 should even be allowed to legally get married! It's VERY difficult to meld your life with another human being, when you haven't even found your own place in the world. Incidentally, I have met some under the age of 25 who I felt were VERY mature, and mature enough to understand what marriage is. However, it's the VERY rare exception to the rule! I think EVERYONE should wait until they're at least 30, before getting married. I know that for me personally, if I had gotten married before I was 25, I would have been divorced a very long time ago.

I cannot say I disagree, that 25 is not a bad number.

Personally I am probably a pain to be married to, as conversation to me is smart ass remarks and talking serious means wise cracks.

I am quite certain my wife has stayed married to me for my pure beauty.

I agree 110%. I've been there. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything because it probably taught me more about who I am than most situations I've experienced since college, and out of it I got an amazing person who is still a part of my life regardless of what happens (no matter how hard I try to get rid of him). It scares me that in some states children as young as 14 and 15 can marry. (With parental permission.)

True. Or end up one of those stories on the news where everybody thinks the old man skipped town until the neighborhood starts smelling funked two weeks later. Seriously, that shit is sad and no one should end up like that. Unless they want it. And who wants that? Oh God, I'm babbling again.

I have been saying this for YEARS, esp to the youngsters who come bounding up to me at 23 who can't wait to get married and have kids...afraid they are going to be alone forever  really in my opinion, like that's a BAD thing! lol I can't imagine where I would be if I would have accepted my first proposal at 19. Damn, what was I thinking even thinking about it?! I did SO much and learned so much in my 20's that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Quality is better than quanity.

Not sure how that makes you "lucky" but whatever makes you happy.  :P

Jesus SJ...you and I share a brain, which is frightening  I actually said that out loud, before I read your reply! What about that makes you "lucky"? Lucky is winning the lottery! Don't get me wrong...I admire any couple who manages to stay married, because it's a daily grind. That said, there are MANY people who stay married for decades, and are completely miserable, throughout the duration. Some people just stay married for religious or convenience reasons. I've met couples who have been married for 20 years and haven't bumped uglies in 19 years

Obviously when I said "lucky", I wasn't serious. It's called a "figure of speech".
