The price of gas probably has more to do with the falling value of the dollar than anything else. A big reason for that is that the Fed is printing too much money and because of the strength of the Euro.

Seriously, there's no way I could afford to drive to work at $5/gallon. I drive 32 miles each way and my truck doesn't get great gas mileage. Can't afford to buy another fuel efficient vehicle right now, either.

Carpool, ride a bike, take the train, find a new job, carjack daily, walk, or quit and collect welfare like a democrat.

I've signed up for a carpool match and haven't had any matches thus far (I live on the far north side of Indy and commute to the south side of town).
It's too far to ride a bike...

Boy, that's a great thing to say. No one here has said they enjoy the war or that they don't give a flying crap about Americans being killed. It's absolutely ridiculous to justify it by saying that there is "no sacrifice required whatsoever". I take no please in anyone dying over there but if we are going to be there, we need to do it right.

The truth hurts. You claim to take no pleasure in it. But you take no responsibility for it either. Face it. As long as it does not directly touch you or your family, you do not care how long it takes, how much money it costs or how many young Americans are maimed or killed. Your sacrifice amounts to ZERO.
RedWingFan wrote:MJM1959 wrote:And you know this because???
Because the Iraqi military + American forces = more dead or captured terrorists, thus greater civilian control.MJM1959 wrote:Maybe someone should have thought about that before we decided to invade a country who's religious factions have been at odds with each other for over a millenium.
At the start of the war, public approval was over 70%. We were told that it would be a long hard war that would last far longer than Bush's presidency.MJM1959 wrote:Ok then, how long are we supposed to keep this shit up?
As long as it takes or until the Iraqi gov't wants us out.MJM1959 wrote:How many body bags are you willing to fill for a war that need not have been fought?
Well, seeing how the media warned us we would need 10,000 bodybags to take Baghdad, I think we're doing pretty well here. Especially now that we're working with the freed Iraqi citizens gov't to keep them free.MJM1959 wrote:How many hundreds of billions of dollars of money are you willing to spend before someone even starts to think about getting our people out of there?
This is one area (the most important) that the Executive and Legislative branches have Constitutional authority (responsibility even) in spending our money.MJM1959 wrote:It pisses me off that surporting this war costs you and the vast majority of Americans abso-fucking-lutley nothing! Aren't you one who blames Bush for high gas prices? That's a sacrafice right? Pain at the pump. I'm not bitching about gas prices because the war on terror is of utmost importance....still.

And what is YOUR sacrifice amounting to? How many members of your family are currently serving or have served in Iraq?
Have you ever served your country in any capacity? Peace Corps even?
You do know that most of military men and women WILLINGLY make the sacrafices they do because they understand what is at stake far more than you do and they see it with their own eyes, don't you?
Good thing people understood the meaning of sacrifice back in the '40s or we would be speaking German or Japanese. My father was gone for almost 4 straight years in Europe during WW2. Now THAT is sacrifice, what he and my family had to deal with. 6 to 12 month tours are NOTHING compared to that.

You so funny! My wife's cousin came home in a body bag almost five years ago. He was one of the first to be killed in Iraq. My nephew is in the Navy now. He is looking to serve as a Navy Special Warfare Combatant. I served in the Navy for nine years. Again, when it was not so politically correct to do so. I still work with the Navy Joint Forces command every day. Thanks for asking. Oh, and my father served in the Navy during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Please do not talk to me about sacrifice. Been there, done that.
Military men and women do not choose to sacrifice their lives for the folly of a failed president. It is the responsibility of the government to send the men and women into harm's way only when there is no other choice. Tell me. What was the imminent threat that Iraq posed to this country? Iraq was a fourth rate military power led by a third rate dictator. There is no comparison between Iraq and the threat that Germany and Japan posed.
And if you get the chance. Try and tell an American serviceman that a 15 month tour is nothing. I know a few that would hand you your head if you tried and tell them that nonsense.

There is actually a report that just came out from one of these translated documents. In it, it shows that al-zarquai and his group actually moved into Iraq before we invaded and planned the insurgency w/Saddams guys. One of those guys was al-Douri who was Saddams second or third man who we have yet to catch.
