I agree here. You all see Denver score 169 against Seattle the other night in NBA? Garbage. Pure shit and pure Garbage is the NBA. Scoring is nice, but for fuck's sake, play some Goddamned defense! Of course NBA guys don't play defense, they are all about the green, and glory. Highlights with dunks and three's. Fuck, I might go to a soccer game instead of an NBA game.

Andrew dumped that bad boy on me and this Board, but I have a new hobby; I read these erotica books now(fuck I love em!), and the one I am reading now is written by a English bitch and she uses "taking the piss" too.

Erotica books rule.

Also, you'll NEVER hear an American referring to soccer as "football". It will always be soccer here, and nobody outside of high school will ever care! We have four major sports in this country (I guess really 3 and a half, with hockey being the half), and there is simply no room for soccer! It's officially the most BORING game I've ever watched in my life! I'd rather watch flies fuck

I think cricket has to be the most boring game in the world! Altho i did watch the indy nascar and that sucked big time - oval racetracks are boring regardless of the type of cars - like a big scalextric set really.......american football bores me but i do like ice hockey - however my favourite team was the USSR team from the 80s.... hee hee.

I don't watch the NBA anymore but scoring has been down ever since the 80s when the Pistons were the first team to start focusing on defense.

I do agree with the politics argument. You got that right. We do love our sports though. It's something we have that we're proud of. Our politicians, not so much.

I was going to say, we never lose at War either, but Bush sure as Hell fucked that argument up.

Yep. That's one loss and Iraq is another. So we're 11-2. Pretty fuckin good I'd say.

I'm the wrong guy to talk to about auto racing, Gordon! I rank it on the same level as soccer! It's fucking mindless, and nothing I will EVER consider to be a sport! If I want to watch cars being driven, I'll head up to my local highway overpass

Oh Gordo, that Red Army team kicked serious ass. If they would have played the USA ten times, they would win 9. That was just destiny in that game. 4-3 and one of the most entertaining games ever, in any sport. I cannot believe Tretiak got pulled.

Dude, go rent Miracle. Phenominal movie about those Olympics and the USA team.

And I wouldn't say they are our friends any longer. Putin is a smarmy piece of shit. The new guy, Medveded (sp?) is just a Putin puppet. putin calls all the shots. They definitely are not a strong ally of ours, but outside the UK, who is any more? W fucked that up.

Yeah - i will - thanks for that.

Yes that game was brilliant - it was weird watching it as a so called neutral - cos i hated the political regime over there at the time - but i sure as hell hate the current one in the US - but, at least it looks like a major change for the good is on the way - i have steered clear of US politics on here cos Rich tore me up on BT for slamming the republicans - he didnt seem to understand the concept of free speech. I would vote Democrat if i was a US citizen....and the current battle is very interesting....

I don't like watching golf but admit it takes talent or skill whathaveyou.

In the same way, I'm sure in soccer there are/were some players worth watching.

Pele scores two goals with those bicycle kicks in this clip at 1:38 and 1:42. Pretty amazing.

Almost anything Steely Dan does is classic. Nobody can deny that they love the Dan's unique brand of music. All kinds of great stuff, and all so smooth too.

And Larry Carlton was a truly great guitarist - i liked the way he bebopped - it was never a"standard" solo - you could never tell what he would do next - one of my favourite guitarists of all time. I meant Deacon Blues was a classic among classics - love that band big time.

Exactly. They are quietly building up their military again and actually never really did stop doing it, for that matter, like they would have us believe. They also quietly took over a lot of gas utilities in Western Europe, which puts them in a position of power over other countries because they can threaten to turn off the supply line. This is all not to mention their support of Iran.

I got a soft spot for Stoke City myself, from the old Gordon Banks days.
Hope they move up in the premier division.

I suppose the soccer haters here did not grow up with the sport, which may explain why.

What's interesting to me is that so many American kids play on organized soccer teams. But for some reason, the sport doesn't stick with them when they get older.

Two of my cousins were big into soccer as kids. Of course they lived in England until they were 11 and 9 respectively. They played through high school here. One went back to England to try and play professionally there, but knee troubles were his downfall. He coaches his daughter's team. The other plays in an adult league just for fun now. We're about the same age, so I went to a lot of their games when we were kids. I never got into the sport. My daughter played for one season when she was 5, and she hated it. Most girls around here play soccer, but mine is playing baseball. She's one of only two girls in Farm league this year.

One game I cannot figure out is cricket. That's worse than watching paint dry. I remember being at my Nana's house when I was a kid and turning on the tv during the day only to find cricket on BBC1, BBC2, and Anglia. My Nana would just laugh, because she'd warn me that there was nothing on tv before I would turn it on.

A couple reasons.

1- It's 2 hours of daycare provided by a coach and a patch of grass. Kids run around like chickens with their heads lopped off, not knowing what the fuck is going on or what to even do.

2- They ditch this shit as soon as they play other sports and figure they can use their hands and have a helluva lot more fun.

My kids never played that stupid shit and Wyatt will never ever touch a soccer ball let alone kick one. That's child abuse, making your kid play that crap.
