I don't watch American Idol much, but my daughter had me come out and see this kid earlier tonight:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebA2GLxBeKU

Here's one for Deano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G45bA3Y9WYY

He's got some pipes! I'd love to hear him do a Boston or Journey cover.

He needs some serious vocal training. No way could this kid sing more than a few songs without losing his voice. Very airy sounding, limited range, etc. He needs to drink a shit load more water to get those vocal chords lubricated better. I also don't like the way he licks his lips after every phrase. But....he does sound good, I just don't think he has the pipes to be the winner.

I always felt that way about Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams... but they were both able to make it through entire concerts.

I think the Carly chick from Ireland has the best voice, by a long shot, on Idol! I don't think there is anyone who is even a close second.

GOOD voice, but he is just riding on the young cute votes. He's good yeah, but hes not THAT great, that they say he is. He should just work on his vocal range.

That kid is FUCKING awful!!!

I cringe every time the judges (I use that term extremely losely) say that his voice is mature. It's the farthest thing FROM mature. Whenever I hear him sing, I'm hearing a 12 year old boy singing with zero control of his larynx. It's sad that he's gotten this far.

Almost every male singer in this competition is a better singer than this little twerp. He's got zero tonal range, zero stylistic range. Has this little fucktard even sung a song outside of the disney-ballad style? Where's the rock, where's the dance, wheres all of the fucking 'chances' that the three amigos force on the other contestants. Please, take note...he hasn't jumped outside of his extremely limited stylistic comfort zone. Then you look at someone like Chakeze, who fucking OWNED last week. He came out with something so far off his beaten path and kicked ass and took names...and I don't like Chakeze(Sp?)...but I know he kicked ass.

I just dont get it with David Archuletta. He's simply NOT good. I scratch my head when the three amigos collectively suck this twerp cockstain's dick every time he sings. If he were ANY other contestant, he would have been fucking SKEWERED by the judges for forgetting the words last week. They threw him softballs...it was sickening. If it were any other contestant, Simon would have had them crying on stage for fucking up the words to a god-forsaken Beatles tune of all things. WTF!!!! Meawhile, they're all like "you forgot the words, but you're still wonderful!!!"

Oh.....and, he has the fucking balls to put on this 'Awe Schucks' routine every fucking time he hears from the judges and make it that much fucking worse.

David Archuletta, the reason why American Idol sucks. Every year, there's at least one. This past year, its been Archuletta, Noriega. Previous years, Ruben Stoddard, Fantasia, William Hung, Sanjaya, etc. All completely fucking useless, wastes of oxygen....that should never have gotten ANY recognition for their singing....

Ugh, may David Archuletta be voted off this fucking farce of a show and I hope the little twat cries the whole plane ride home and refuses to eat his PB&J with the crusts cut off for the next 4 months, in protest.

I didn't like David Cook at all in the beginning, but he's really growing on me. He seems to have that natural stage presence that some of the others lack. He also looks like he's really enjoying performing.

I missed Archuletta last night, so I just watched the Youtube. I think his performance is great! At least it is to my untrained ears. Sure, he could use some vocal training, but if he wins I'm sure he'll get it. I don't think he should win the competition, but I think he has great potential.

David Archuleta is a one-trick pony, and that trick ain't very impressive.

The one time he did something other than a slow, monotonous ballad he screwed that up by forgetting the words and falling a beat behind.

He has no personality, stage presence, variety, or personal style.... I can't believe he's made it this far. Pitiful.

He's wasting the talent he was God-given by recycling the same boring tripe over and over again, and not really branching out.... I'd KILL to have a natural singing voice like his, because I'd do my best to take it somewhere other than the same shit day in and day out!

See, that's just it. First, if you concede that he's got talent (which I wont because he sounds like any 12 year old kid belting)...and that all he needs is vocal training...

then what the fuck is he doing up there? I would submit that the time for vocal training is BEFORE you get to AI, not after you get through it. The fact that the judges pushed him into the top 24, sealed the deal that this fucking pimple-faced cockstain will get to the top 3 on the 'sanjaya vote'*, alone. It's sad...

My feelings about the pimple-faced fucktard archuletta can be superimposed for that dreadlocked twat as well. In fact, whoever goes first will likely give the other one a full ride to the top 3, because of the aforementioned sanjaya vote*.

Personally, I think the ones to watch in this competition are Dave Cook and Carly Smithson. They *both* have mature voices and seem to really know how to grab a song and ride it like porn star desperate for a lunch break.

-----------
* sanjaya vote (tm) = 9-15 year old girls that get wet dreaming of doing the AI contestant, even though the contestant lacks pubes and an ability to ejaculate....these girls will repeat dial more than *any* other voter...

Last night's show was pretty bad...all the singers were off. I wouldn't vote for David A. but he could win 'cuz he impresses the judges. I like Michael Johns & Jason (when he isn't making weird faces & looking like Andy Kauffman)...David Cook bugs me, but he's been doing better. Chikezie is fun...loved his singing last week wearing the Argyle sweater...last night was not good with the harmonica. Definitely Carly should win...she's good.

I think he's up there because the judges wanted people who would draw in the viewers. There are lots of young girls out there clamouring to have a cute guy to look at. Archuletta seems very "Tiger Beat." I don't like the dreadlock guy either. He's an OK singer, but I can't stand dreadlocks. I agree with you 100% now about David Cook and Carly Smithson. I started out not really liking either of them, but I like them more and more each week.

Regardless of whether Archuletta can sing or not, I can't watch him perform. He does this thing with his tongue...lizard-like thing where he all the time licking his lips and once I noticed him doing it now that's all I see.

I, like many others, did not start out liking David Cook but he's definitely got something going on now. But him too I can't seem to watch - he creeps me out for some reason.........

The thing that makes Archuletta a good singer is he can convey emotion. You guys call them sappy ballads, but sorry, put the other contestants on those same songs and they don't convey them from that emotional place Archuletta taps. That's what makes him unique.

As to his airy voice, well yeah! I can hear it when he talks, let alone sings, but that's because of the vocal paralysis he suffered when he was on Star Search years ago.

When David started on Star Search, he already started showing symptoms of bronchitis, which would later lead to his vocal paralysis when he reached the age of 13 and 14. One of his vocal chords was paralyzed and underdeveloped. The doctors said he can have surgery, but it was very risky. He didn't want to take the risk because he wanted to sing. He was actually supposed to record a CD after Star Search because of his big success there, but wasn't able to due to his vocal paralysis.

Sings pretty damn good for someone with a weakened chord.

That being said, yes, he does need to change it up. He's in danger of being seen as a one trick pony. I think he's capable of more, I just think he's nervous of reaching outside his comfort zone in the competition.

The final two standing will be David Archuleta and Carly Smithson. Simon was waaaaay off on her last night and I ususally agree with Simon 100%.

I would never thought I'd say this, but they need to get off the Lennon/McCartney songbook. The problem is that so much of the Beatles music is harmonizing - eiter Paul and John or Paul/John/George. That leaves the solo-voice songs as the only ones they can really pick. Personally, my favorite song is "Paperback Writer" followed by "Day Tripper" and "Ticket to Ride". They worked so hard to get the rights, but really the songs don't lend themselves to solo performances.

Look at this list of singles. Any of them would be hard to sing.

Here's the top 4 contestants in my view:

David Archuletta:
Emotional connection to the songs. Needs to change it up, but very talented. Popularity wise, he could take the whole thing if he picks the right songs.

Carly Smithson:
reminds me a lot of Ann Wilson from Heart. Very similar sound, power and range between them. She's probably got the strongest pipes. Now she needs to pick better songs. I didn't think she connected with the song last night. There was something off between the lyrics and instrumentals. Overall I think it was nerves.

David Cook:
is the new Chris Daughtry. Look for him in the top 2-4 if his song choices remain consistent.

Ramiele Malubay:
is very Christina Agulera (vocally). If she starts picking more soulful songs she'll connect and stick around for a long time.

Carly Smithson, David Cook are the obvious ones to beat. Remember, the 3 crudges always seem in the beginning to pull away from the front runners and make some otherwise obscure contestants out to be "the ones" to watch. And then all of a sudden they are on board with the obvious talent. It's probably done to make the obvious less obvious. ;)

David Archuletta does NOT have a connection with the songs. I don't know what you people are hearing...but I hear an emotionless little twat that's belting every syrupy, disney-style ballad with zero regard for dynamics or inflection.

The little awe-shucks fucker would be better off doing the disney thing and working up through the ranks that way....this way he can get properly trained and/or flushed out when he cant cut it. I'm thinking the latter, because he does NOT have a good voice.
