Journey on Rock Line May 28th

American rock legends JOURNEY will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline", hosted by Bob Coburn, airing Wednesday, May 28 at 11:30 p.m. EST/8:30 p.m. PST. A new chapter in the legendary career of JOURNEY — Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Arnel Pineda (vocals) — will begin on June 3 with the highly anticipated release of "Revelation", a three-disc CD and DVD package to be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores in North America.

The first disc will consist of 11 re-recorded classics, the second is filled with 11 new songs, and the third is a live, in-concert DVD. All of the music on "Revelation" was produced by Kevin Shirley (who previously worked with JOURNEY on their platinum-certified "Trial By Fire" album).

JOURNEY will take "Revelation" on the U.S. concert trail later this July, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.

JOURNEY performed its first show with new singer Arnel Pineda on February 21 at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Viña del Mar, Chile.

Arnel Pineda ("pin-eh-da") replaced Jeff Scott Soto, who parted ways with the band last year after stepping in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the band in 2006 for medical reasons.

Arnel hails from Quezon City in the Philippines and has been singing JOURNEY songs — in addition to original material — with his band, THE ZOO, for the past couple of years in clubs all over his homeland.

JOURNEY has been confirmed for the Arrow Rock Festival, set to take place June 15 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Also scheduled to appear are DEF LEPPARD, KISS, WHITESNAKE and TWISTED SISTER.

oh i love it .. but i cant see this forum wanting to see TS...

it would be my chance to swap out for better tix during those performances..

Dee Snider in full blown make up looking guelish,,, Cover-version with another band playing the hits of the 2 best albums he released in the 80's,,, and Arnel running around looking like Perry fresh out of a HOT dryer..

dont forget about Gene , right out of a sex scandel... all those songs about his big LOVE.. i just dont think were true anymore...

i would buy that ticket so fast.. i love it!! my big return to the 80's... :wink:

Eh, makes sense. Still looking forward to the whole damn thing regardless. They could promote it including a CD with a full hour recording of Ross telling knock-knock jokes, and I'd still buy it.

I thought that was strange too. I would consider the re-recordings a bonus. The emphasis should be put on the new material and DVD.

I wouldn't go that far. He's good for Journey but very pedestrian when compared to most other rock bassists.

Fuck that. I know Deano is in the "Valory is average/sucks" camp, but listen to some of their earlier "progressive" stuff and even Escape and Frontiers and the man is more than an adequate bassist. In fact, he's very good. You don't have to be "flashy" to be great. Journey had enough "flash" with Perry, Schon and Smith being pretty much the very best at what they did. Valory's style meshed seamlessly. The man is very good at what he does. Didn't hurt that he was cooler than walrus nuts in person, either. :wink:

I love Ross, and my personal style is extremely similar to his, and yes there were moments where he downright boogied, but fact remains that he's just not as prolific and dynamic a bassist as many other of his contemporaries. Reviewing Journey's basslines over time, it's almost as if he dumbed down his style when Perry came along, and only came back out of that rut whenever he was either on the verge of getting fired (Escape) or showed up bigtime (TBF, after Randy pwned him on RoR)

I concur with Saint John omitting the walrus anatomy. Smitty played (technical) for Journey, not himself. Ross could give two bits what we think about his technical abilities. He has more in his repertoire than we know.
