You know I've been a fan - BUT...
If you are going to post an interview where Herbie the Ego bug spews crap about all the band members, I would be disappointed.
It's so insulting when he talks about Neal the way he has, and all the others.
Not one of these guys have ever spoken one negative word about this guy. But I think Herbie actually loses sleep over the fact that it was the Steve and Neal show.
This board has seen enough shit. I'd say the band has suffered a lot, but really, we are a small group in the scheme of things.
All I can say is Herbie has an agenda. There are people I dislike in my life, but for me to publicly discuss the negatives I feel is self-serving.
Really - who gives a flying leap about who did what drug or who hated who or who's wife had better have a hit record? It's name dropping and Herbie can't seem to let it go. If he was like this during the heyday, which I suspect he was, I have no idea how the band put up with him so long. It seems it would be a huge distraction to have this guy running around, probably creating rifts within the band.
Like I said Andrew, I hope for the sake of the band and the members on this board, you will use proper editing skills like any good journalist would do. Bringing this resentment and hatred to this place, this place that has been fractured over and over, is serving Herbie, and not us. You may say that printing word for word is what a good journalist would do. But think of any major writer, they know what's trash and not worth including.
You said that after this interview, Steve Perry would not ever give you his own interview. First off, that's you and thousands of others. And second, if it's so bad, don't print it.
All I can say Andrew is that before you print it, read Luke's note again, and again, and again. I implore you.
If Herbie is public enemy # 1, why did someone connected to Journey (Neal no doubt) already play for him the re-recorded classics?
Obviously then, his ties to the band are not nearly as frayed as you make it out to be.
He was there for one of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. He came out to see Jeff perform with the band.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Nocturne was involved with the recently filmed Vegas show.
If the band sees it fit to keep company with him, why should Andrew second guess his own journalistic acumen?
Drew - this is not a regular interview. This is Herbie Herbert. We've been waiting too long for this to let anything sacrifice it; including some high minded posters' fragile sensibilities.
Print it in all it's foul mouthed, triple-chinned glory, please.
