"Taint Your World" is good for what it is, catchy yet altogether disposable rock filler.
"Simple Life" is designedly too short to even merit discussion.
As for "No End in Sight", as already stated, it's lyrics involve the death of soldiers, yet inexplicably, it has an uptempo chorus.

This is no different than "Generations".
Another half-assed, slapped-together sonic grab bag - with precious few gems to be found amongst the shit.

God damn man...they're not curing cancer! It's a couple of fucking rock and roll records...9/10th of each of those albums is better than the shite that's coming out from many other artists of their elk, these days, plain and simple. Journey and Toto do NOT get the respect they deserve, especially for their newer material, save for a small contingent of fans (and super fans) . I think Toto's recent effort was a more cohesive effort than Generations, but both albums were pretty damn good for their type of music, and I tend to agree with Andrew's ratings, generally. But this is all subjective anyway. Honestly, I think some people like to bitch EXCESSIVELY, which can do more damage to these types of artists, rather than the critiques that are warranted for the crap that's selling and overplayed on the radio and satellites today.

And please, can everyone stop bitching about Simple Life, we know it's short, but it's a great song. You want it longer?? Fine, here's an extended version

Do you mean to suggest that music can't be discussed or critiqued seriously?
I'd like to know what other art forms get this free pass.
Books? Movies? TV?

Out of the two of us, I'd argue maybe I'm the one paying greater reverence to the artists, as I at least still pretend to care.

The nature of the beast is that not all Journey fans will dig Toto and vice versa.

Hence why there is a Toto forum.

I am a huge fan of both, but Toto will ALWAYS come first for me - (for reasons I will not go into here)

Journey AND Toto have very, very passionate fans - and are not expected to see eye to eye...

There is still SO much bullshit that the guys in Toto always have and will continue to deal with
- and that will NEVER go away - and maybe a reason to why they are not more supported and held in higher regard.

Journey have infighting and instability (at least the last couple of years / that may change with Arnel) and THAT could have caused a major problem (it already has for some)

It is ALL good, solid music we listen to (as in Melodic Rock) - we should all come together and SUPPORT this style of music where we can...

Ok....that is all from me....maybe see you at the Toto forum.

Ok...now that the initial coolness of the album has worn off, I can be a bit more objective about how much I like it. I'm just gonna throw out a few tracks right now...I just woke up so I can't be complete just yet.
King Of The World is still a top notch track that I can't seem to get enough of. Bottom Of Your Soul is awesome. KILLER, classic Toto style harmonies in the chorus. Hooked is another great song.VERY "hooky" (if that IS a word and no pun intended there.). Taint Your World I really like. The guitar spots are fantastic. Lyrically...it's rather lackluster to be honest. Spiritual Man and Simple Life just kinda run together for me. Not that I don't like them...it just kinda feels like Simple Life is a 2:00+ intro for Spiritual Man. Great tracks though. Reeferman just needs to go. It's an awful mess of an instrumental and a complete waste of time.
Ok...I'll get to the other few tracks after I wake up a bit more. Need coffee.

It's been a while since FiB was released, so I may be wrong...but FiB was Toto's 1st release in a long time, since Mindfields, and their first release post Sony/Columbia...I recall Luke mentioning before release that it would be the same record for everyone, all over the world. But finally succumbing to the pressure from Frontiers, they included Reeferman as a bonus track for Japan. They didn't include an additional song, and decided to just included this short instrumental to satisfy the condition Frontiers for release of the album in Japan.

That's a pretty shitty bonus for Japan, dude.

I actually like that track - for what it is (fusiony, be-bop, Miles Davis tribute), but it too suffers from being too short...Needs a bridge and a solo or two.
