Gotta disagree there...It was his vision that got Steve Perry in the band and steered the band in the right direction at least up until "Frontiers".

It's not that hard folks. Herbie helped to get the guys together and took them to the heights. Yes, there is the music aspect, but there are many talented people out there who fail because they don't have someone who can deal with the other side of the house. Journey wouldn't be the Journey you all know and love (or love to hate) without what Herbie did for them.

That first part of the Castles Burning interview where he's talking about the "evergreen" catalog is about right. You may dislike his chutzpah, but talent alone does not make it.

Any chance that can be turned into a .aac file you know, so I can have samples to mix into a Herbie Rap?

Herbie put the band together from the very start after working with Neal in Santana.

I know what that's like!
Interrupting him has all the appeal of stepping in front of a bus.

He is, one of small list of people I know who will not BS you or allow any foolishness on their behalf.

Bring the "A Game" when dealing with him. He's on his.

Allen, in your opinion, is Herbie telling the truth? Is Steve Perry the most misunderstood person in the history of music or is he the prick that Herbie says he is? Personally, I think Perry, as a bandmate or "brother," isn't worth pigeon shit. Common sense mandates this.

i think perry is one of the greatest singers ever.i also think herbert tells the truth when he says these things about perry.personally i think perry was very wrong to twice leave his badmates hanging in the wind for years letting precious time, money and stature go to shit and there was a lot of damage done because of this.if perry would've continued journey might;ve been on a level with ac/dc,the rolling stones and aerosmith but now the legacy will be forever tainted and reduced to a fraction of what it could've been.perry said don't crack the stone? hell he was the one who cracked it.

For me, Perry is the greatest vocalist...ever!!! However, he has become, to anyone with a brain, a transparent and pathetically vain jackoff. No one , in the know, likes this guy. People know the songs and the music, but no one thinks of him as anything more than the dude that sings "Don't Stop Believin'."

What I want to know Andrew is, even after all you know about Herbie, and after reading all his interviews before this, and especially after knowing how frank he is. Did he say anything that shocked you? You don't have to give any details just a yes or no will do. :)

9 pages on who the interview is with, i love this place.
some points
andrew , warts and all.. im sure youll do a good job with the interview
the wal mart deal -- journey gets more per sale because they are doing this themselves, and if its like the eagles they agree to purchase a set amount of pieces no returns probably 1/2 million.
say what you want about the talent of the band members, herbie pushed these guy to switch styles, found a singer to move them in that direction, then was smart enough to decide to switch to perry so he deserves a big piece of credit.
i doubt anyone in the band would admit it but if they were truthful, they would say they didnt want to be in a pop/rock band ,and would have prefered to stay prog/blues based.

That part I knew because his step-father owned a turkey farm and Steve returned home after the group Steve was in broke up because one of the members died in a car crash.

I'm looking forward to this interview as much as anyone....
