I am a Augeri fan through and thru. Just curious where the general population stands...
I want a new tour bus filled with old guitars...

JSS. His command of the stage and the catalog is only rivaled by the man himself. Arnel second.

although i like JSS im not PO'd that he is not in the band anymore, would have like to seen some new stuff.
and i got to see the first SA show in the US and they rocked, and i really like arrival when you combine the import and the us version and take out the mellow filler.
but gregg rolie would be my favorite othe singer. didnt hear AWYWI until after the cincinnati concert for departure, would have loved to seen that lineup.

Augeri-but only because I saw him with Journey. JSS was awesome also in the clips I've seen.
Both did the songs justice in their own way.

So awesome on the stage....Have seen him 6 times with Journey and each time was a joy...

Miss him a lot....

second would have to be Arnel even though I have not seen him yet....

This was a hard decision because they're all great vocalists, but I'm old school and I have to go with Rolie.

Think Rolie will be top here. But I love Augeri, esp on Arrival, gone for him

For me...it has to be Deen. I actually prefer the guy's singing to his drumming as well....

Hmm, Deen is a good singer definitly, but nothing particually special, I think his drumming is far better. Although he certainly isnt one of the best drummers around either

Eh...Augeri didn't really do anything for me, Jeff was just a fill in, and it's too early into Arnel's tenure to cast a vote. I'll vote at a later date.

I don't think any singer on this list is particularly special. But Deen doesn't actively annoy me like two or three of the others do.

JSS is definitely the superior stage performer though...with Augeri languishing last on that score.

Although Deen sings well and helps the band out, that he didn't want to be lead singer takes him out of the running for me. ( I did like both songs he did on Germinations though).

Arnel's too new and hasn't released anything original so can't consider him either. I saw JSS live and he was great but nothing released so same deal there.

Down to Rolie, Augeri or Fleischman's (I can't believe its not butta).

Actually...I need to put my hand up to this one. Strange in a way that I voted for the guy...especially since I once got banned from BT for being a little unkind about him....but I really love his vocals on the '79 solo album and especially the insane performance on the Vinnie Vincent Invasion record. Much more memorable than any of the generic vocals of the other guys on the list...

But I should have stayed focused on Journey stuff though and voted for Deen. RF did butcher those Journey tracks in 1977.....

Dan, Jeff was not just a fill in. He was officially named as Journey's lead singer just about 15 months ago. Although his tenure didn't last too long for whatever reason, he was in fact one of Journey's lead singers. Please give the guy the credit he deserves for what he did for the band, which was to bring a lot of fans on board, and re-energize many that had fallen away from them. I know you like and respect Jeff, you've told me that many times. I just hope you'll give credit where credit is due. Don't make me come to Chicago and kick your ass! :P

Very true about Jeff bringing most fans out of the shadows and re-energizing passion from the fans to the band again. With that said, I'm going to have to agree with Dan. He was brought in to be none other than a fill in, at the wrong time. Journey was stuck without a pure lead singer for most of the tour, and felt the pressure of having someone to be named and what better time to do it than while Jeff was still on board. He is not what they wanted, obviously. They knew they made the mistake of officially announcing him as their new lead vocalist, and quickly got rid of him..maybe it wasn't the right way, but either way he was gone from the beginning. To me, I don't think you can HONESTLY say he was JOURNEYS LEAD SINGER. He was basically a blow in the wind with the band. The guy they "settled for" until they "found someone they wanted." The situation sucked, but that's the way I understood this whole thing. But without a doubt, The guy deserves all the credit in the world.

There's more to the JSS / Journey situation than him being "a blow in the wind" IMO. Ultimately, yes he became "the fill in guy" because of how it ended up. I'm sure there's info we're not privy to.
