Saw April Wine last night, GREAT show! For old farts, they still kick major butt! Myles Goodwin can still bring it vocally for the most part......as witnessed by his still hitting it with the rock screams in Roller! Quite the guitar player too. Definately check em out if they play near you! Great time! Just might even check them out New Year's Eve again. :D

Set List (from what we remember and no particular order)

- I like to Rock
- Say Hello
- Tonight is a wonderful time to fall in love
- 21st century schizoid man
- Sign of the Gypsy Queen
- Rock and roll is a vicious game
- Sheila (new cd)
- Rock myself to sleep
- I wouldn't want to lose your love
- Tell me lies
- I'm on fire for you baby
- Just between you and me
- Bad side of the moon

Encore
- Roller
- Oowatanite

I saw these guys in phoenix 5-6 yrs ago and there was literally only 10-15 people to see them, it was a good show. The drummer was celebrating his 60th birthday that night, i'm guessing these guys could be collecting social security at this point.

:D Yes you do Robyn! Sold out both Friday and last night's shows here. I Like to Rock was pretty much this...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeBtU9hY6JE (much better sound though  ) It was funny, some drunk way in the back kept yelling out for some cowbell. I think it was his drunkin way of wanting to hear Oowatanite.

I don't think they played All Over Town or One More Time? And I know they didn't play If You See Kay, Lar. :( A couple I did forget though were Could Have Been A Lady and This Could Be The Right One. So many great tunes, too little time. Yul, that drummer was pretty good.....big guy and up there in age, but yet still impressed all with a great drum solo.

This one's always been a favorite. :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7TMnFJv ... re=related

Great venue (sound). Next show I'm seeing there is Honeymoon Suite next month.

Dan (putting a big L sign on my forehead towards ya) ...............that must have been around the time of your Paula Abdul phase.

then i doubt you would like them now.. they are a 70's band that you sorta had to grow up
with ,, it would be sorta like running into your best friend from the 3rd grade,, and trying
to be friends again..

I managed to listen to the first minute and a half of the "Gypsy Queen" song before YouTube peaced out on me like it always does....

....and it sounds like something I'd listen to. :D It seems to have a Michael Stanley Band/old-school REO Speedwagon feel to it. I dig.

Oh come on Dan, you never heard "Just Between You and Me" in the early 80's?? ('81 to be specific) That's probably one of their best known songs.....classic slow-dance ballad in middle school  .

Just "youtubed" it, Robyn. I think I've heard it a handful of times, at best. Decent song, nothing more. These guys seem really boring from the two songs I've heard. They sound like Air Supply, but not as good.

Miles Goodwyn's 'scowl' always scared the crap outta me. Met him a couple of years ago - he was pleasant enough but the scowl was still there (I think it's the eyebrows  ).

What are ticket prices like for this venue Deb? I'm coming out in July and was hoping to see Prism and Harlequin.

Cool.....might be checking that one out too. Both April Wine and Honeymoon Suite tix were $40 each, so I think they are all around the same. July looks pretty good.....P and H(July 12) Trooper (July 11) Dr. Hook (July 4) and April Wine again (July 31)

They tended to go more towards pop with their last two radio hits as they adjusted to the MTV exposure they were getting.

Agreed! Roller is one of my faves, it's the second song on this youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Ky1kQHoI4
Looks like they borrowed Journey's stage and wardrobe consultants from Wheel in the Sky for the Roller clip.

Very cool to hear...a lead singer must be able to SING..

Just Between You And Me..still a killer song today..can never change it when it comes on..one of the true original haunting 'love' songs.

Apirl Wine echoed through the halls of my dorm my Freshman year of college. They rocked. never made it much bigger than 3rd from the headliner in the ol' SuperJam days though.

Air Supply comparison????? Huh?
