Did anyone watch this shit show tonight???? An hour of Dolly fucking Parton...Someone shoot me! I'd love to know who thought it would be a good idea to have 20 year olds (or anyone else, for that matter) torture us with an hour of garbage!

larry, I have been thinking that as well for months now, lol.

Fuckin' John and his best cities, worst cities, smoggy places, and best weather.

Dude, Dolly Parton is a legend. I see nothing wrong with her being featured.

I agree..don't care for too much country music, but she is a heck of a songwriter and a smart woman....seem's like a genuinely nice, sweet person, also.

Dolly's OK, just not someone I ever listen to.

Performances - I liked Michael (the Aussie) and David C. (the rocker) - probably because I'd never before heard the songs they did. The rest of them - not so much.

OK - I admit - I'm pretty much only watching the show this year because of the Aussie :)

American Idol sucks.

If you don't have a generic R & B voice you are screwed.

I last watched when Constantine got screwed by the show's producers. You know they would NEVER let a rock singer win their stupid R & B competition. Suddenly the next season they had "Rock Star Idol" to keep us rockers and our vastly superior (and much larger) instruments off their proverbial one-dimensional stage.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Constantine...he was so bad...I thought Chris Daughtry was pretty good, for what he is..

One of the rock guys they have on now (the one with the comb-over) did Michael Jackson's 'Billy Jean', arranged by Chris Cornell, and nailed it...really good I thought.

I heard Simon bad-mouthing the Irish girl (with tatoos, a funky smile, a fat head, and a friggen AMAZING voice), and I thought to myself, come on, rate her for her voice...You have enough money fucking with people's careers at this point. The presumption is that she is not marketable. When it comes down to it, I don't think AI producers give two shits about the real votes they receive.

Every contestant should sing the same song so we can really compare them.
They should all do Walk This Way with Aerosmith.

I don't think Simon has a wide knowledge of music TBH.

And he does seem to only want R n B singers.
Which is a shame, because he says that is all that is marketable, but while he has his star in the ascendant and people are listening to his opinions, he could single handedly make melodic rock huge again. He can dictate what is marketable at the moment.
The man needs educating.

Well yes there is always violence.

I was thinking more along the lines of strapping him into a chair, drip feeding him the alcohol of his choice and playing him non stop melodic rock until he submits to our superior taste in music.

I'll probably be pissed if he doesn't, 'cause I do think he's the best. But I also really hope he doesn't win, otherwise he'll have to sing the awful 'written for American Idol' song and release some crappy album. He's better off being voted off early - hopefully the exposure will send him on his way to making a good record and having some success.

I didn't hear that. I hope he is OK! It must be very stressful to have a family member with cancer in addition to the pressures of the competition.
