Michael Sweet's wife's cancer return

Postby LazzMan » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:32 pm

From the main page, it doesn't look too good for them. As I understand it, even though I have never met them, the Sweet family are some of the nicest, genuine people and that Michael is a real class act. I have been a Stryper fan since the '80's and I was pretty jazzed that Michael will be touring with Boston this year. Also, as a familiy man myself, hearing this just tears my heart out.

We should all keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

Sad news. Good Speed to the Sweet family.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I've known about this for a few months now, and kept it to myself until they had said something publicly. This is very sad, especially since I lost a very, very dear friend from church to cancer a few weeks ago.

I do not know them personally, but the Sweet family has been incredibly strong an adamant to the world in their faith, and I admire them to the utmost. I've prayed for them many times.

Michael and Kyle -- everyone cares about you, and everyone wants the absolute best for you both. I continue to hope for a miracle.

yea. makes no sense sometimes.

we will all go sometime i guess. but it is just as hard for me to see a baby go, a beautiful young wife, a young grandmother, barely acquainted with her grandchildren, as it is to see an old man in his 80s. "you should be thankful. he lived a good long life." what?? that is supposed to make it ok?

i dunno and I can't begin to understand how people feel that have lost loved ones like this. i just pray for some comfort for them, for you, somehow.

we remember the good things that they brought us as our comfort when we miss them. even though we wish that we could have had them longer.

I think all Christians at some point feel like I do, and I guess it's just my turn right now... I'll get over it. Anyway, I apologize -- I didn't intend on creating a distraction in Kyle's thread, so please reply to my earlier comments in PM if you like -- I've already received a few, and I appreciate them. The Sweets certainly need all the support they can get.

atta boy, Rip. move forward, don't look back. and that doesn't mean it is instant. it is a 'journey' sometimes. keep talking about it. it helps.

The Sweets are strong and commited. amazing.

Over at the Stryper Forum and the Michael Sweet site..we have been praying for Kyle for months now. They have been pretty open about all of it especially at the Stryper site. In doing so..has a lot of people praying for her. We have know about this for months over there.. from al the request for prayers at certain points...

I wrote some about this in the 'saved' thread and how some of her thoughts really hit home and what it's all about and how many things we get go up in really don't matter.
She talks about about not being negative towards people and making the most of life.
Something we all strive for..but it's good to hear it from someone who really knows what this means.

Over the the Stryper forum we have all known about what's been going on with her for many months know and have been praying for her like crazy.
They are fantastic people and great witnesses.
I'm glad many months ago they decided to let all of us know what was going on. Kyle has not always been a very public person..but has decided to publicly talk about this for months because they are trying to bring awareness to cancer study and she wants to be a witness.

A few months ago she was on TBN talking about all of this and Michael sang some songs.
You can find the clips on youtube.
I admire the way they have made it public knowledge..they have done it with class and through music and talking.
Their daughter also had a health scare that they thought might be cancer related..but it wasn't.

I'm not saying anything that is private..all this info has been on their sites for months know and they want people to talk about it and pray.
Months ago they set up a fund and Michael donates certain profits from a album sale to their cancer charity they have chosen.

My sister in law died of the same type of cancer...

There's a lot of info out there on all of this at Michael Sweet's official site and the Stryper Forum..has been for awhile now.
Also..as I mentioned..there are some youtube clips of them on TBN awhile back. Michael sang some amazing slower songs that night.
With the type of cancer that Kyle has had..it's a MIRACLE that she is still alive.

They are wonderful people.

I admire so much the way they have publicly handled this in letting their fans know because of prayer and they want to show people through how they live, talk and the music how you deal with things like this.

When this started..they pretty much let us know up front because they believe in the power of prayer..Kyle really shouldn't still be with us..it's a miracle.
They want to show that yes..things like this do happen to Christians..it's how we handle it..and that's a big part of why they make it public a long time ago.

We all will be affected by cancer in some way..

I am a huge believer in prayer..as I mentioned in my thread..and months ago I asked too..if you believe in prayer..please keep praying for her and the family.

Eight, what type of cancer did your sister-in-law have?

She had ovarian and cervical..one of the worst.. :( it can take someone very fast.. a friend of mine just lost her mom to the same thing..

We thought my wife also had it about a year ago..the way the blood test came back..but once they got inside they saw that it was just a very large tumor that can also throw blood test off..

This cancer thing..

I have NEVER heard a single bad thing about the Sweets. They sound like amazing people, so I'll do my part and send up a prayer for them tonight...

Reading the front page MR news and Kyle's statement, brought a tear to my eye this morning..

Thanks Debbie. There was a line from her that struck me when I read her news on Andrew's front page & that is "His ways are hard to understand". That about sums up what I've struggled with after my mother's fight & death from breast cancer. I still don't understand & I want answers I'll never get. But you're right, I (& my father & brother) find comfort now in all the memories of the great life she lived, the life she gave me, & the life going forward in my little ones, her grandchildren. I just miss her so deeply.

Love ya Deb.

Small brief update-

"Had the treatment yesterday and all went well. I'm feeling pretty good today, in fact I'm at a Boston rehearsal as I type this. It's a good place to recover. Great, positive, caring people. I am on a lot of medications to stifle the effects of the treatment, so I'll know better Sunday when I stop taking them. I'm feeling good about this treatment. Your prayers are precious to me and I so appreciate them. As I've said before I believe strongly in the power of those prayers. Even those of the tiniest faith are heard by a loving Father in Heaven.

Blessings and Joy,
Kyle "

The night of that show..Kyle knew something else was wrong too..she wasn't feeling good and started having pain.

Michael also did a solo album just for her called Touched. Much slower stuff. Some of her fav love songs. I believe he did three songs that night..one of which was posted. I didn't post any because things weren't right in the studio that night and his sound was off when singing.

Kyle is going to start a blog on Michael's. She wants to share her experience even more than she has. She hopes she can raise awareness, be a witness and 'Touch'

Nor am I lady and I will do the same.
Shame it is to see anyone one struggling and suffering with the likes of this sheet.
My Father fought with it for years and lived longer because he did.
Sad it makes me to see anyone have to go through this.

UPDATE! Please pray..send thoughts..whatever it is that you do/believe in..

"I'm being admitted into the hospital today for surgery on my kidneys and paracentesis followed by chemo. All of this will take place tomorrow (5/8). I was in the emergency room Friday night because they thought I had a blood clot. Thank God I didn't. The next day I received a blood transfusion because the chemo knocked out so many of my red blood cells. It's been a rough month and about to get rougher. I've been in a lot of pain so hopefully these surgeries will relieve some of it."
