Which side is the "mentally challenged floating to the top at the shallow end of the gene pool?" Those who are "saved" or those who are still wandering about looking for Jesus? If you float to the top does that mean you are "saved"?

There is little wonder that the world is full of con artists when so many insist on being duped despite themselves. Taking things on faith is all well and good, but where is the evidence? Where is the proof? Where do they get these crazy ideas?
It has been my experience that those who are the most religious actually know the least about the subject. I would suggest that they have closed minds, but that would imply that they have a mind to begin with. They don't want the real truth, just a truth that is warm and comfortable. They want to have their ears tickled, and to have someone do their thinking for them. The facts are out there. The truth is not what you think it is, and it is certainly not what you have been told it is. A little research would work wonders. A little thinking would be a true miracle. And for those of you who have found Jesus, I wasn't aware that he was lost. Come on guys, wake up and smell the coffee.

There's been alot of proof against the Bible and Christianity.

....Yet, there's also been proof FOR the Bible and Christianity.

There are plenty of extremely religious folk out there who know a good deal about religion, and to suggest that they all have closed minds is moronic.

I forget the name of the guy, but I read his book... an atheist set out to prove the Bible wrong, and that was his mission. However, along the way he picked up more proof in favor of God and the Bible, than against it, and as he did his research he converted himself to Christianity. I believe the guy wrote the "The Case For...." series but I could be mistaken.

Besides.. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I'll take the chance that Christianity may be false, over living my entire life pessimistically and thinking I'll turn to dirt in the end.

The human soul and body are MAJESTIC things.. there's no way, I think, that we'll just fade away in the end.

You know what... I live with one of the most convincing atheists on the planet. He is brilliant at arguing against God. Unfortunately for him, I am devoid of influence one way or the other. I believe what I believe, and it is in a God, but I am anti-religion to the core. I adamantly refuse to follow any doctrine.

I am a quick learner. Mere mortals are not ready for the truth. They can't handle it. Far better to believe in magic, and childish delusions than actually face reality.

I was raised Catholic...so the whole celibacy debate is at the forefront. Sincerely, if it weren’t for the fact that I loved the company of girls as a teen, a career in the priesthood was a definite possibility. I still hold on to my faith strongly, but maybe it is just a hybrid of standardized, organized religion, per se.

I will say this though; I believe celibacy was a product of Jesus’ followers…not from He himself. I’ll bet he was satisfied by Mary Magdalene, or whoever was in his life.

Just my humble opinion.

Proof for the Bible and Christianity? Very amusing. I do not doubt that the Bible exists, and as a work of fiction it is very entertaining. Whether you consider such a heavily edited and biased tome as worthy of such adoration is questionable. As a factual history, even less so. Once you have read the Gospels of Judas and Mary (yes a woman!), come back to me. Your comments prove my case rather than refute it. The zealots have closed minds.

As for your last comment, history proves otherwise. All creatures become extinct in the end. Look at the evidence, it is there.

Who in their right mind would be proud to be classed a human? Their record throughout history is hardly one to be proud of.

I meant our souls fading away... and besides, there are dozens of different types of animal and plant that have been around for millions and millions of years... I believe if they can find a way to survive multiple mass extinctions, then humans can. We're the most intelligent, developed, and innovative creatures of all time. We can find a way.

Dozens of animals have survived mass extinction? Care to name them?
We're the most intelligent, developed, and innovative creatures of all time? Ah, the arrogance of humans always shines through. We were created in the image, we are the centre of the universe....blah, blah. Hokum. We may be the most intelligent life on this planet at the current time. Observers from elsewhere might disagree with you.
