The Cover with the purple scarab was made by Christopher, the same artist who created the RED13 cover. This was shown over on the Official Forums and was made right after Jonathan announced that the new CD would be called revelationS. He did submit this and a few others to the band for the new album, but evidently they chose differently.

I am not crazy about certain parts of this cover, but they did put a little effort into it. I lvoed the original Arrival cover. But since then I have been very critical of the cut&paste mentality of covers. this still has some of that feel because of the scarab. And the bottom of the cover looks rather girly to me.......

I do like the fact that they used the classic Scarab (feather look). However, the lower portion of the cover does lack creativity. Oh well, it's just a cd cover. There not art pieces like back when we had albums.

Since their going back to the Classic look, they should have had the original artist from the old albums do the art work. Does anyone know if hes still around?

Just keep telling yourself the likeness to the covers of "Greatest Hits" and "Essential" is purely coincidental.

A step up from "Generations" to be sure (which Jrnyman28 accurately described as "the Captured scarab dropped atop of an Astronomy textbook"), but lets not kid ourselves, as with its current choice of frontman, this cover is running on the fumes of the dead.

Stanley Mouse is still painting according to Wikipedia. Doesn't sound like he does anything for album covers anymore.

I like the scarab and wings ( a lot) but I agree with you on the rest. Better than they have had in a long time but still not quite what I was hoping for.

You can hear a clip of one of the rerecords, I think it is anyway.

Good find, good clip until the "new alternate album cover".

Big mistake if they put that on the cover.

I like the Revelation cover much better. Has the 35C4PE beetle in it. :D

I asked someone if Mouse and/or Kelley did any of the artwork and I was told "no." Too bad because I really enjoyed their work.

It would have been nice if they came up with something more original, they lifted that scarab right off of one of their 2006 tour shirts.

I like it. Classic look. Can't really do anything else with it, folks. If they put out a "New Millennium" Journey look to it, then it would look like their trying too hard, and people would look at it like just another computer generated piece. If you think about it, if it isn't broke don't fix it. How many horror movies are out there that try to upgrade their classic first films look and it ends up being laughable. (Friday the 13th ...Jason X or something is a perfect example.)

It just doesn't work.

I think you get the picture, lol.

I like the classic look to it. Gives off a feeling that Journey is still kickin' and not some legendary band trying to look "cool" to the younger crowd of the world. I feel it's a good move..would be sweet if we had a clear picture though.

It's what's inside the package that I'm fuckin' worried about. Some of you cocksuckers would argue whether or not the earth is round...and technically it's not.

I think the actual version we see on the package is gonna be great. I'm still more worried about what's in the package, though. 8)
