Are you mortal or alien?

Who in their right mind would be proud to be classed a human? Their record throughout history is hardly one to be proud of.

So you must be an alien. What planet do you hail from?

I'm ashamed to confess that it is Earth. Don't tell anyone.

That sounds like my husband. He loves to debate - very intelligent, reads everything, but he has his beliefs (more scientific) & I have mine. We don't argue over them - in fact, it is very enlightening. I keep an open mind, ask questions & found a lot of things made sense in various "religions/cultures" that I studied in college...I enjoy seeing other perspectives...makes one well-rounded. Even if I had the time (which I don't taking care of two little kids, one a major challenge with classic autism) and read tons of books on everything related to science/evolution & creation, how much of it would I understand? I have a limited brain (and it feels worse as I age & deal with kiddie stuff)...I could go around & around in circles & still be confused...so, I had to look within, look to the sky & nature & ask, "are you there?" Somehow the "knowing" is there & that is what I call faith.
Anyone see the movie, "Contact" with Jodie Foster years ago? She was the scientist/astronomer & the other guy was the religious one...but, in the end neither could fully explain & have people believe what they experienced...because it was their OWN experience. And, ultimately science & faith both led to the same place.
Did what I wrote even make sense? :? Gotta go..my kiddo is calling me to dunk her Ariel doll into water now.

Yes, it did make sense. And the book "Contact" was written by Carl Sagan, a scientist and a gentleman. I miss him.

Allow me to set your mind at ease. The Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Santa are all as real as god.

Personally I doubt that there is a Gospel of Thomas. LOL

It has been my experience that the female of the species is the one prone to exaggerate the truth, the truth being a concept almost alien to them. Are you trying to tell me that women can write? Only with crayons surely? A Hero doesn't need to exaggerate about size.

Women exaggerate? Men are still telling their fishing tales 2,000 years later. I shall concede there are some women who exaggerate. For example ones on some forums who envision things larger than they appear.

There are plenty of extremely religious folk out there who know a good deal about religion, and to suggest that they all have closed minds is moronic.

I forget the name of the guy, but I read his book... an atheist set out to prove the Bible wrong, and that was his mission. However, along the way he picked up more proof in favor of God and the Bible, than against it, and as he did his research he converted himself to Christianity. I believe the guy wrote the "The Case For...." series but I could be mistaken.

Besides.. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I'll take the chance that Christianity may be false, over living my entire life pessimistically and thinking I'll turn to dirt in the end.

The human soul and body are MAJESTIC things.. there's no way, I think, that we'll just fade away in the end.

As for your last comment, history proves otherwise. All creatures become extinct in the end. Look at the evidence, it is there.

If I truly am as old as you are implying that would leave my word as the most accurate. Shall we start with Genesis or would you prefer one of the omitted Gospels? This could be fun.

Nope. Collins-fronted era is decent, especially the first couple albums of that time, but from the time they became a trio on forward is by far their worst output. Still good music though.

Hey Prog, I think this is the first time I have to disagree with you, Genesis with Collins is the best IMO

I agree. One could argue Phil Collins IS Genesis. After all, has there even been a Genesis without him?
