Time To Burn - Giant

Raised On Radio - Journey

Ready Or Not - Lou Gramm

A compliment, then two questions.

1. Time To Burn - excellent.

and these are not criticisms, just curious:

2. How do you choose a Gramm solo but no Foreigner?

3. What about ROR puts it in your Top 50 past Frontiers or any other Journey album?

Amazing album. Overlooked. Not what you would expect from him. This album came out at a time when I really needed something like this.

Give To Live and Eagles fly..good stuff.

Yes great list Andrew :) I really like Lou Gramm's Ready Or Not as well, one of those rare albums you can hear from start to finish without sensing any weak songs. Best tracks for me include If I Don't Have You and Heartache.

Coverdale/Page is one of my favourites as well, I love the track Take Me For a Little While, one of the best songs ever!

Lou's album has a special place in my heart for the time it was released. It really is a note by note classic. I rate Foreigner very highly, with Inside Information, Mr. Moonlight, Agent Provocateur and 4 my 3 favs.

Raised On Radio - I got into Journey via Street Talk, so it is an extension of that. Escape and Frontiers are also very highly rated, as is Arrival.

I love the LOU album too. MIDNIGHT BLUE is a fave...
Andrew, we see to like alot of the same artists (though not necessarily reflected in my top ten) , you just seem to dig their later material more. Foreigner, for instance, for me is about the first 4 albums. I got very little use for them post FOUR- You like ONE WAY HOME? It's all about NERVOUS NIGHT for me...etc...
GREAT call on the ANDY TAYLOR. What a fine, underrated album. Ditto on INTO THE FIRE, CHARLIE SEXTON and TEMPLE BAR.

The one highlighted is a favourite of mine as well at the moment. She may look like a street walker from Amsterdam, but she can sing at the level of any master soul/RnB singer worth mentioning!

Absolutely. Too bad her personal problems overshadow her talent. I really hope she gets herself back on track.

Oh yeah, I'd also thrown in any of Elton John's early albums (Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water, Honky Chateau, Yellowbrick Road) in my top picks as well.

I don't.
Michael Bolton's 'Everybody's Crazy' is an absolute barnstorming melodic rock classic, if ever there was one. It rocks like nothin else. Voted by Kerrang readers as the greatest melodic rock album ever in a poll years back. Anybody who has not heard this album and loves melodicrock should buy the thing right now.

In no particular order....

Michael Bolton - Everybody's Crazy
Journey - Raised on Radio
Touch - Touch
Aldo Nova - Subject
Boston - Boston
Van Halen - Debut
Balance - In For The Count
Survivor - Vital Signs
Giant - Giant
Harem Scarem - Harem Scarem

Great song!
I think my favorite of his is Tumbleweed Connection (Amorena and Where To Now Saint Peter are great songs from that CD).

His early stuff is fun to listen to, because you can hear the major progression in his playing, his singing and in the band's structure as you go from one album to another. And it was all done within a few years. Amazing.

The best one is from the studio (my two coppers worth) though I can't find it.
Youtube is only good for so much.

Yeah, some if not most of my favorites are a bit on the suspect side I would admit and I'm greatful I didn't get pinged by Deano for it. However even I can't stand Bolton. Bolton does come off though in my opinion as being just another Rick Astley style. I didn't like Astley either. My top ten is of the albums I was listening to during some of my most important times in my life....between the age of 20 and 25 and living in Japan. Ten top albums is very restrictive though because there were so many others that I thought were good too, like 5150 was another one of my favorites along with Foreigner - 4, Heart - Heart and Bon Jovi - slippery when wet just to name a few.

Rick Fucking Astley???
You are listening to the wrong Bolton albums.
I aint talkin Bolton does fuckin Sinatra or shit like that, i am talkin the debut and Everybodys crazy, and The Hunger, from 83 and 85 and 87 respectively. He did used to rock, believe it or not, rockier than Journey have EVER been.

Check out the list of co writers, players, and legends that feature on these albums....

Mark Mangold
Aldo Nova
Bob Kulick
Bruce Kulick
Chuck Burgi
Randy Goodrum
Terry Brock
Dianne Warren
Joe Lynn Turner
David Glen Eisley
Eric Martin
Randy Jackson
Mike Baird
Jonathan Cain
Neal Schon

You list Heart, Foreigner, Bon Jovi. If you like that stuff you will be blown away by the aforementioned Bolton releases.
